Door handle/comfort access issue

Recently when coming back to the X and opening the rear passenger side door the alarm has started to go off. What we thought was a 1 time thing now happens every time, only with that one door. Also, the lights that come on under the handle do not work while all the others do. What I assume is happening is since the CA isn’t working on that one handle that the alarm thinks someone is breaking in when we open that door.

Would this be a CA module, a faulty handle or something else? Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Thanks!

I'd start with looking at the handle, first.

Next time you unlock the vehicle from that door handle...before actually opening the door...take a look at the DWA status LED (the blinking light below the interior rear view mirror)...to see if it stopped blinking. If it is still blinking then the alarm siren is still armed (thus the siren is going to go off).

Then take note when using the other door handles when the vehicle's DWA system has been armed...does the status LED STOP blinking when you touch those door handles to unlock the vehicle?
DWA (anti-theft alarm siren system) LED Status:

yes, it does stop blinking. Looking at ebay i'm seeing handles and brackets but I dont see see any electronics on it. OF course I realize this could be a microswitch that hard to see but do you think I need this whole assembly or just the handle itself?

The CA (comfort access) door handles have the required components (aka sensors) built into the door handle. See the info below.

Well, somewhat easy fix. We recently had a significant door ding fixed on that side and they didn’t plug the handle back in. However…I’ve spent the past 2 hours trying to reinstall it. The back portion of the handle won’t go into the latch. And to make matter worse, the screw that is supposed to stay in the back side of the handle came all the way out.
Any tips on re-installation?

Took the entire door panel off to get to the back of the handle and finally got everything taken care of.
