Leaves debris in engine bay
Hello all ,
Is the common? Located a large amount of leaves/debris on the right side of the engine bay. I panicked first and thought it could be a rodents nest, but it does not appear to be and the X5 is garaged 99% of the time. |

Ya probably from when you parked under a tree once during a storm. They get in through the huge gaps between fender and hood

The water flows and drains out there so leafs and debries will work it’s way down and ends up in there. It’s a seasonal cleaning to make sure the drains are not occluded

You can remove the cover on the bottom of the engine bay to help clean some up, but it doesn't seem to be a problem if you don't clean it up.

I bought a 2016 X5 recently that had the drain areas completely clogged. I spent about 4 hours removing the paneling on both sides and the cabin air filter and vacuuming it all out along with inside the fender. My shopvac was about a 1/4 the way full with all the leaves. Since the cabin air filters also are open and exposed to this area and not a closed system I would recommend cleaning any dirt and debris down there.
