They fully acknowledged the burning oil issue. They even gave me two quartz to carry with me in case I need them.

But I also got to test drive an X5M. I didn't expect it to be that much different from my 50i. I was so very wrong.

Wow, the only thing that even feels similar is the layout. What an incredible beast. My goodness.

But alas, it is not to be. With only three months in my car they offered me 15k less than I paid. I suppose that's somewhat to be expected, but still...not going to happen.

Besides, I love my ride. I'll not be spending extra money just to "love" something more. That's just doesn't compute.

I do tend to move through cars quickly though. So maybe I'll look into it again in a year or so. Hopefully the work gods will accommodate.

But let's say I got them to 110k on the M.

They offered me 65k for mine.

45k out of pocket. I'd prefer to just buy a used M3 or something similar.

Thankfully, I've only got a small one car garage. Otherwise, by some weird logic, I might actually be able to convince myself I should do just that.

But the garage is small, even for a single car. And it's filled with the SL550. That puppy isn't going anywhere.

I was very close to get myself into X5M. Fortunately the dealer I was working on the number doesn't have one with LED Light package, so the deal was off the table.

Yeah I almost test the drove the X5M, but I stopped myself; I knew if I test drove it I wouldn't be able to back down.

I've not driven the x5M yet - but I'm sure it is fast. Just not sure I would want that firm ride and noise in my DD. Just drive my 50i 525 miles today and hard to image a more comfortable and capable ride.

I sat in an X5M last week and the dealer asked me to take it for a test drive which I had to decline. I know how I am, and I knew the difference between 50i and M would be too drastic and I would be at the finance desk in 30min. Im thinking in 2019 I pick up a 2016 X5M for $70K and call it a day.

From what i heard dealers are offering the X5M's for below invoice pricing now from several members on the other forum.

Temptation is tough to resist.
I used to think my 50i was a beast until I drove an X5M. That's when I decided my 50i has gotta go and an M car must replace it.
Whole different level, from power to handling to the feel you get when you're driving it.
I'm waiting on an X6M in a few weeks and I bet it drives even better than an X5M. Can't wait!
