Delivery problem
Hi from Belgium
Just took delivery of my X25D Sapphire black, black dakota, nicely loaded, Car is awesome, especially with these great comfort seats. However while seating for the first time in the car, i immediately spot that the leather dashboard I ordered was not there. Too bad. I get on my phone checking order sheet, and see that option code is clearly on the list. Dealer checks his own ref, sees the same + Belgian BMW importer docs as well: leather dashboard is on the list , but not installed... ( see pictures for ref) Well after few minutes I find out that this can be installed afterwards (for those interested). Well my question is: On top of upper door panels, and the dashboard itself I am wondering if the glove compartment or the frame parts going from the ceiling to the dashboard should be in leather as well. Dealer reckons only dashboard + upper door panel should be in nappa. Can you please confirm me this? Apart from taht the car is just great. After first fuel stop, I eventually checked under the bonnet, you never know they might have mistaken and placed a 35D instead of 25D; but they didnt go wrong there All the best FJ |

Very interesting! Nice car, congrats! From what I have heard on the forums, mechanics tend to have a few screws left after removing the dashboard, it really has to be carefully done otherwise you will might have a very annoying noise/cracks in the dash. I believe the upper doors as well as the middle console (left/right) side of the gearshift should be in nappa as well (the tunnel).

Congrats!! Looks beautiful. IMHO, I would not make the change because of the potential issues with installing the new dashboard, although I know the leather dashboard looks nice. Have them reimburse you for the money you paid for it plus some freebies from the parts dept. for the inconvenience. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy it in good health

^^^I'm with him
Only the dashboard and four upper door trims are covered in leather with the optional leather dashboard. Interesting how they did part of the job on the OP's X (door trim) but not the dashboard

This baffles me of how such a large company like BMW where everything is automated could screw up building a car like this. It not like someone walks into a parts bin and manually carries out a dash to be installed.... This is not the first ive seen happen. I seem to only see these types of mistakes from cars built at the SC plant. I will have to triple check my F15 when it arrives.
