Flock cameras are a network of AI-powered Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) utilized by police, HOAs, and businesses to capture vehicle details like license plates, make, model, color, and unique vehicle modifications. They operate in thousands of communities to help authorities track stolen vehicles and investigate crimes.

Because these cameras log detailed travel patterns and upload them to a vast network shared across jurisdictions, they are the subject of intense debate. Privacy advocates, including the American Civil Liberties Union, cite concerns about unregulated mass surveillance, potential data sharing with federal agencies, and a lack of transparency regarding how the location data is stored.

You can check if these readers are actively operating near your area using the DeFlock Map. Check out the DeFlock Man and be prepared to be shocked. George Orwell's 1984 was a movie about a dystopian future not a road map.

Shocked I'm on the side of the ACLU on this one.
Flock Safety Credibility Lost as it Repeatedly Lies to City Councils, Police Departments, and Public Across the CountryFlock’s chief information security officer, who was in attendance, told the council that Flock’s system did not “create a pattern or heat map of an individual’s movement” through the tracking of their vehicles. At the end of that meeting, the Oshkosh City Council approved a contract with Flock. The very next morning, the city learned that Flock had lied.

So you mean a company selling a product with a fear basis lied?

They infiltrated our city here by marketing ability to track down missing children, which it is not being used for.

Also recall that the ACL in ACLU stands for American Civil Liberties. For better or worse over the last century they have grossly defended our constitutional rights as Americans. Not always popular but always the right decision to do. Fortunately for us this successful NPO has (rightfully) decided flock cameras violate our liberties.

I was pretty shocked at how many local Flock cameras are in my area. The local township has these as well as Lowe's and one other commercial business. Kind of like a real life episode of "24".

License plate readers for safety only?
2nd Milwaukee officer charged with using Flock cameras for stalking

https://fox11online.com/news/videos/...riminal-charge

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A second Milwaukee police officer has been charged with misusing Flock cameras to stalk two victims.
The detective was assigned to investigate another officer misusing the cameras -- but he was doing the same thing.

Four (4) LEO's that could have been stopping real crimes. Pitiful.

And 1984 was actually first a book, which should be read by every American.

It was just a book when it first came out in 1949.
Since then, it has become a "I wonder if we could do that" instruction manual for far too many governments.
North Korea started it, now we are all trying to replicate aspects of it:

The Government would have done it anyway, with or without the book. That's the point of the book.

All the towns/cities by me have them including my small town - well used to be a small town. Our police department also has drones that they fly over your homes & back yards, and a freaking armored assault vehicle.

Me too.

It's probably a banned book nowadays...

Thanks to this thread, I found the Flock cameras near me, which is low populated and rural. On my Sunday scooter ride to the corner store today, sure enough there it was hiding behind a big power pole. I gave it the finger both coming and going.

That's wildly unnecessary expense. And I'm all for having our guys properly equipped.

But this kind of equipment goes hand in hand with an ever increasing proportion of our civil service depts staffing filled by combat veterans. The two disciplines are equally important but should hardly ever mix.

Definitely do not disable them and definitely do not make sure your phone is off and or not on you when you or persons unknown are definitely not disabling it.
