Pretty crazy that the 2006 z06 weighed in at 3147 lbs. That's a hell of an increase.

They've been increasing in weight through the years. I think last years weighed in something like 32xx. Even Vette guys were saying it was going to weigh over 3500 lbs. Its still going to be a badass car.

Oh, a 2013 C6 coupe and convertible weight difference is like 13 lbs......then a 2013 Grand Sport is 3311 lbs and the Grand Sport convertible is 3289 lbs!

As much as i loathe American made cars in general; the C7 is the bargain of the decade and the C7 Z06 is cheap enough and one of the sexiest cars to come out of Detroit to be able to seriously scare Stuttgart. No performance enthusiast looking to buy a Porsche would not consider this.

Oh and I didn't say it is going to start around 120k. I said the car will cost roughly 120k. I'm referring to a car someone would actually buy, not a base model MSRP that is on the books but doesn't really exist.

I TOLD YOU SO

All the people arguing months ago-sure as shit this would START over $100k.

Keep calling them out man!!!!! There were tons more skeptics out there.

I can't wait for the ZR-1 prices to plummet. In 2016, I plan on picking up a 2013 ZR-1 for less than $50k. Just watch.

So now that we know the price of the Z06.....how are you "badge" holders holding up? Anticipating that this car doesn't perform worth a hoot?

BTW, GMs pricing is going all over the place. Pricing this near the Z/28 price makes people think twice about what kind of car they want. If someone chooses a Z/28 over this.....they are retarded. Unless they are just buying it to collect dust so it'll gain value then thats cool.

There exists a split inside of the bow tie die hard's. The camaro vs corvette rivalry can be just as intense as the camaro vs mustang or corvette vs all other exotics. It's just the way it is. Camaro die hard's will always buy a camaro. My dad is one of them, he still has his 67 camaro SS albeit it is a fully blown track car, but he would never be seen in a corvette. Just the way it is. He respects them but that just makes him push the camaro even harder. Last track day we did he got into a little race with a zr-1 on the straight away and when we talk after his exact words, "that corvette has f*cking nothing, didn't pull an inch but it looks damn good!".

Point being, the camaro guys will buy the z/28 and the corvette guys will buy the z06 no matter how closely they are priced. The z/28 has limited production numbers because chevrolet is fully aware that there is a only a select few who will buy it over the z06. They will dump money into engine work to make a high revving 600 rwhp naturally aspirated track monster because thats all the z/28 really needs, more power. It's just the way they are.

Die hard fans are funny at times. I understand the whole concept as I was a die hard Chevy guy but through the years I've became more and more of a true car guy, liking everything and wanting everything. From a Cruze to a Agera R.

But the thing that kills me is the guys, like your dad, that says "that Vette didn't pull an inch on me!" Oh ok, lets see what a stock 67 Camaro SS will do against a stock 2012 ZR1. Once you start dumping money into something then say (enter car name) aren't worth 2 pennies and call them garbage is when you're out of touch. If his car is a straight track car then it has to be towed everywhere right? While the ZR1 can be driven home.

I look at stock for stock performance and like it when people start modding a little but when you have to dump $40k+ and strip your car is when things become iffy just to say your Camaro is faster than something else that is stock and still has a warranty and creature comforts.

Nothing on the camaro is stock lol. It can be driven on the road but only to shows and stuff. He built the whole thing in his garage. It turned, accelerated and braked just as well as the zr1 did. For him, its more of what HE accomplished WITH his camaro. 25 year ongoing track car project with tons of heart and sole. If your able to keep up with a zr1, thats a solid accomplishment.

He more or less uses the latest technology as a benchmark for his own accomplishments. Couldn't be more proud of what he has created from the floor of his garage!

Oh I'm sure. I would be too. Putting your own blood, sweat and tears into something that runs with the big boys on the track is where its at.

IMO there is just something special about having a GT3 sitting in your garage. Not to mention that new GT3 engine is already such a legendary engine. All motor, revving to 9k RPM. more motorsports style of engine.

Where the Z06 and corvette overall is more mainstream, and really nothing new. Big S/C V8 motor in a lightweight car. i have nothing but respect for the Z06 though, and i want one just as much as i want a GT3.

both are great cars, they both have different things going for them.
We feel that way because we are in Michigan. We see Corvette literally 15+ times a day. On top of that who here in this state doesn't get a employee friends or family discount deal. I looked into a C7 and they quoted me for a 82k car $820 a month. Good luck doing that on anything not american. But I still think the C7 and Z06 are serious business. I like them a lot. I am the first to admit a lot of my reason for not going that way is because I am a Euro snob and like my cars to reflect my personality. The M car fits me and my lifestyle. BUT the C7 Z06 is so ridiculous I am seriously considering. That thing looks great. Has a nicer interior than my E92M imo. And it goes like hell. It might be a time for a change.

This is about as true as it gets. Seeing the stingray 10000x before it was even released going up and down M59, so it never really seemed all that special. Plus you can spot a Vette from 85 to 2012 about 9000000x a day easily. It gets old, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for them. I would love to have a C6 Z06 now that the prices will drop pretty generously with the stingray out.

I think the stingray was a huge step for the vette world. For the most part exterior and interior changes over the years were very subtle, IMO. The stingray kind of gives the Vette a whole new feel, and I really like it.
