Clunking noise after brake install
Ok folks,
I've installed brand new OEM front rotors and pads over the weekend. I also did a brake fluid flush. I torqued everything down according to manual and this is not the first time I am doing the brakes on this car, so I am fairly confident everything is assembled correctly. I am now running Performance Friction 08 pads. What I noticed is that they did not come with retaining clips on the back of the pads. They sort of just sit on the calipers. So now, every time I go over a small bump they clunk and clank. But if I go over the bumps and apply the brakes slightly, there is no noise. My questions: * Is this normal for pads that don't have retaining clips? * Should I be worried about anything due to the lack of those clips? * What can I do to minimize the clunking noises when I go over bumps? Thanks in advance

Yup, my stockers rattled, and my cc pads rattle since the outer pad sits loose. My understanding is that the Hawk HPS pads come with an anti rattle clip for the outboard pads since that big ass springy retainer thing BMW uses is not strong enough. You can even hit the tire with your fist and hear it rattle.

...and you'd expect a respectable company like Performance Friction to include retaining pins on pads that cost $260.00 for the front.
