Anyone have a problem with their 335 sedans brake squeaking while accelerating, or while rolling. Its gets pretty loud specially when heated up.

just took my E90 in for this exact problem. the shop foreman said that this is pretty common for BMW's since they have performance brakes. he will try to resolve them, but if the brakes pads still aren't due for a change, there is nothing BMW can do. i think that's a load of crap because i know high performance brakes can squeak when braking esp. heated up, but my is squeaking loudly when i accelerate from a dead stop or roll at 10-15 mph esp when heated. i'll report back as to what the dealer ends up doing for my car. anyone else have this problem or is it just me and you?

i have the same problem...
not sure but i think its normal for brakes to squeak sometimes, as long as its not all the time or ridiculously loud.

if you don’t brake hard very often, the squeaking/squealing could be due to filming. If you take your car in, i bet the service tech would do nothing more than use break cleaner and or get up to speed and stomp on your brakes.
Next time you are out and low traffic, come to a quick stop. |

My brand new car has a weird noise from the front tires. I don't know if it's because they are new but when the engine is on, the front of the car makes a weird whistling noise in a rythm. It's not an ongoing noise. It's more of a drum beat or something, whistling not whislting not not whislting. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks.
This is what i posted on my first thread. |

My 335i coupe does the same thing. I am bringing it in for service on July 20th. I will let you know how it works out.

Hi guys. Sorry to hear about the squeak. I have no experience with BMWs but on some of my mercedes the brakes sqeuaked. This happened when braking from low speeds <5km/h with light brake pressure on my S500. Front pads were changed and and a special brake paste was applied. There was a service bulletin out for it.
I have had the usual crap about they are 4 or 6 or 8 piston performance brakes etc etc, its the brake dust etc etc....its all BS. Ask them to change the pads...it worked in my case...hope this helps

Did you guys bed your brakes?
If not, get up to speed 75mph or so and brake HARD, not to the point that you activate ABS, but just before that point. Brake down to 10mph, DO NOT come to a complete stop. Do this 8 times or so, one right after another, your pads will smell and probly smoke a bit, but that's normal. After you've done this drive around to let them cool. While letting them cool try not to use the brakes at all. If after this you still have problems, try new pads. Keep in mind when you get new pads your going to have to bed those in as well. If you never did this, most people dont, you'll notice better pedal feel and your brakes will actualy work better and they shouldn't squeak. |

so, here's what happened at the dealership today. my E90 has around 36k and for the past 1k, it has been squeaking at slow speeds especially when loud. the dealer checked the rear brakes and said that there was still 6mm left on them and that it was not time to be replaced, but they went ahead and replaced them anyway as a "good will" gesture. so i guess i should be grateful to them (btw, it was bmw of riverside that did the work).
but that kinda makes me think that perhaps i should just get some aftermarket pads if these knuckle head dealers are telling me that the squeaking is normal. i drive pretty aggressively and brake really hard so i don't think there is a film issue. i can understand high performance brakes squeaking when you come to a stop, esp. if they are ceramic. but having squeaky brakes when you try to find a parking spot for example is just simply annoying. so, at the end of the day, i'm very happy that they replaced the brake pads, but i suppose i'm just waiting for the day that my front brakes start to squeak and maybe the dealership won't take pity on my then. good luck to all of you with the similar problems i have! |

in a way i'm kinda glad that i'm not the only one with this issue. hopefully bmw will come up with a TSB for this issue so the dealers know what's going on.
i got my car back from the dealer this morning and the work order says "found front and rear brake wear sensors rubbing rotors causing squeaking. removed both sensors and modified sensor tips.". this fixed the squeaking when braking but it did not get rid of the squeaking at low speeds after a bit of driving. i hate having it squeak while i'm in the parking lot without even touching the brakes. |

When I start engine it there is a light whistling noise coming from the front (engine). When I rev a bit or start accelerating lightly, the whistling noise gets louder. Some people I talked to said something about the double vanos system. Can someone please varify this and should I go to my dealer? It's a brand new 328i (got it with 10 kms on it...and now at 120).

I was thinking that is the A/C since I try to turn off the A/C that time and it when away. I haven't hear it since 2 weeks ago so I guess everything is fine now. if it comes back again I will take it to the dealer.
