OK...I took delivery from a dealer off the lot. I believe the car was made in March 2011 (possibly April). Is there a way to check that?
So...I have the following in regards to the retrofit Nav 6FL Premium Premium2 Cold Weather Hopefully, I can do a retrofit. Does anyone know if I will be able to? Thanks!!! |

I'm sure the dealer / service dept. could tell you when it was actually built. I was going to find out on mine as well.
The date on the bottom left hand corner of the window sticker is 20110412, and I bought the car on 04.23.2011, so I'm wondering if it's in fact the manufacture date of the car...?

I think the OP meant to state that those options are what he currently has and is looking to retrofit BMW Apps.

As far as retrofitting the APPS, I don't believe anyone knows absolutely for sure quite yet but most are leaning towards the possibility it can be done via a future software upgrade. Combox can likely handle this aspect. ...but am not sure about the Apple Phone part of the equation. For now the Apps adds Twitter, Facebook and Web Radio. |

ohh I see hardware retrofitting isn't the problem, it's the coding. Dealer will probably refuse it since it's not official, and F series can't be coded yet unlike E series.

Apps is both software and hardware
BMW apps is both software and hardware. The hardware is the cell phone baseplate which has an additional USB which goes to the combox, as well as a video wire which goes directly to the cic. That is how you view video for the plugin phone and why you cannot get the video to work by plugging it in to the USB port but can get the other apps to work. Seems like a pretty easy retrofit if you can get the wires you need.
You can go online to the bmw tech website to verify this. They have a whole write up on apps including wire diagrams etc.. |

I understand that BMW Apps integrates Pandora web radio with the display. My car was not ordered with BMW Apps (build week 18) but I'm wondering if I'll still be able to listen to web radio through the standard USB port but without the integration with the Nav display. This is all pretty confusing and my Sales guy does not know how this all comes together.

costs 30 per day. Their is a complete booklet under training manuals that explains everything you need to know about BMW apps. I have it downloaded but cannot post it because it is trademarked.

You can do this at least three ways:
Plug white apple cable into center console. Configure idrive to play a song from your phone. Manually change the iPhone to play your steaming audio station. This gives the best audio sound but if you make or receive a telephone call via integrated blue tooth your iPod will start playing the last iTunes song and stop playing your streaming audio once you hang up. Another way is use Bluetooth audio. Then change the iPod to your streaming audio station. Here again you will go back to iPod music should you get interrupted by a phone call. The only way that I found to have your streaming audio stay nailed up and not revert to another iPod song is to get a 12 volt power adapter and plug one end into the power port in the center console. Next, plug the other end of the adapter into your iPhone. This will give you power. Next, connect a 1/8th inch phone plug into the headphone jack on the iPhone and the other end into the audio jack into the center console. Set your streaming audio to "background" mode on the iPhone. Now nothing will stop your iPhone from playing streaming a music and it will go back after a phone call. Note: you can't plug a standard USB cable into the apple iPhone and use the 1/8th inch audio cable into the console on post September builds since the system will default to the USB for power and digital audio. Anyone know of a better way? Quote:
