Flashing ECU's with engine running?

Hi guys, I am about to retrofit my G31 pre-LCI with Icon Light (SA552) taking used parts. Until now, I haven't been able to insert suitable CAFD in the new FLM (access is denied in E-Sys). In another thread I read that I might have to flash FLM. Can do that with E-Sys and Psdzdata full; the problem is I have no big charger. But if - as it is in my case - DME is not affected, couldn't I just leave the engine running to grant sufficient voltage? For coding this definitely works fine. But I don't want to brick my ECU's and thus would like to hear from the knowing...

Edit: Sorryy; although I used search function before posting I only now found the answer in an old thread by shawnsheridan himself:

"No you cannot run the motor. Flash TAL will put car in Transport Mode and shut down the Engine automatically."

So if flashing turns out to be necessary, I will connect to a second car with engine running instead.

Edit2: at least for my G31, Shawn wasn't quite right (the thread I quoted was rather old, however). I had to flash FLM due to retrofitting Icon Light, left the engine running and it did NOT stop during flashing procedure. So if you don't want to flash DME or ZGW, or at least when only flashing peripheral ECU's there seems to be no need for an expensive charger (or for connecting another car with running engine).
