First: Michelin Pilot Super Sport (PSS)
Then: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Super (PS4S) Now: Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 (PSS5, but Sport Super, not Super Sport lol) Man, they can't get their naming convention straight lmao. Hyped for the Michelin Pilot 6 S Super Sport (P6SSS) in 2030. And, according to that video, there'll be a short term replacement for the PS4S for the public because the PSS5s will be OE only for awhile? Huh???

First I heard of this new tire, hopefully we'll get some of you to test it out and report your impressions.

Well. This will certainly be the OEM tire on the next generation M5.

Cool but the best tire name was Pilot Super Sport. Should have just kept adding numbers to that. The name just flowed well.

We won't, it's an OE tire only, Michelin doesn't plan to replace the generic PS4S for now.

In addition to that, it is possible that the PS4s successor will be a different tire to the now presented PSS5 (which will be OE only). With a different name aswell.

The PS4S OE for BMW is an excellent tire, significantly better than the regular PS4S for sporty driving even if it looses a bit on the wet. From the video above he says that many of the technology on that tire is now making its way to the PSS5 so that will be interesting. I’m sure by the time it becomes a non-OE product it will be a significant step up from the 4S.

True. I’ve since upgraded to the PS5 on my M3 but have the AS4+ on my 335 and they are a great all around tire that replaced the AS3+. Only wish is for a more aggressive tread design and side wall but oh well.

Thanks for the post. I've been looking forward to the next-gen of the 4s. Although we still have a wait, I'm excited that Michelin is improving on an already awesome tire.

Michelin’s model designations are still a puzzle to me. Where do they fall in line compared to the excellent MPS4S?

Michelin is about as good at naming their tires as BMW is at naming their vehicles.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I recently got MPS4S on my car, it would feel cooler saying "super sport"
