Disable pops and bangs
Hi all,
Just a question for those of you that have tuned out the OTT pops and bangs - did you miss them at all and does the car have any burbles and pops naturally once they are disabled? Thanks, |

I disabled them about two weeks ago and I honestly should've done it the moment I picked up my car. My wife and I both couldn't stand the burbles. The car sounds way more natural now and doesn't sound broken lol.

The burbles are entirely fake made by DME programming.
On any regular car there is no fuel available on overrun to cause burbles. It's meant to sound like old carburettor engined cars that burbled on overrun naturally. Back to my N54 335i, tuned, DPs, exhaust - never a crackle or pop in 4 years! That said i'm going to disable burbles on sport mode only but keep them on sport+, with BM3 you can wind up the "aggressiveness" level too. So i'll go OTT in sport+ which I don't use much anyway (just for special occasions) Last edited by doughboy; 06-20-2019 at 04:45 AM.. |

M2C owners got upset when I said the overrun sounds like something in the exhaust is broken, glad some of guys here agree with me, so I don't sound like a troll..
I hate it, I am not an exhaust guy, never was, even in my younger Civic days but I can still appreciate the sound of a throaty exhaust roar like in 11:35 below but that "pop and burbles" at age 32, is embarrassing to drive around NYC and its actually the reason I'm actually discouraged by this car & its motor. I wish there was a way to disable it, maybe even physically, without flash tuning and voiding the warranty. #Sigh |

Disable ASD. This was the most annoying thing for me since I am always in sport plus. Now I can hear the turbo spool and exhaust.

I’m using Ecutek software already and my cars tuned by Litchfield in the UK.
I already have ASD disabled using the techpnp harness which I was initially worried about disabling but its much better without it! (Even more so now I have the Akra evolution system). But for me the burbles are way too much - don’t get me wrong I don’t mind the occasional burble or pop but it’s too exaggerated on this car IMO. |

In a stock car I agree but with an aftermarket exhaust (especially with mid pipes) then the ASD is no longer needed as you can actually hear the exhaust AND the ASD is out of sync with the exhaust noise.

It may vary between exhausts, but as the ASD is fake INTAKE / induction noise not exhaust noise I find it compliements the sounds, to my ear anyway. I did a bit of experimenting myself, i've got the full milltek with OPF replace with CAT and I much prefer it with ASD on as it give you that instant link between throttle move and sound change that you don't get with a turbo exhaust note due to lag.
