Tire size for 2017 X1 M Sport

Hi all, the standard tire size for the vehicle is: 225/50/18

I want a wider and thicker sidewall for my vehicle.

So I am thinking if I can fit a tire size of: 235/55/18

Will it fit ?

it'll probably fit but with a 1.2" greater diameter and .65" greater sidewall, i speculate the tire may contact something while turning at full lock as the fwd fenderwell is narrower due to transverse engine. even if it doesn't rub, your acceleration performance will be reduced due to taller(gearing)/heavier tire and turn in will be sloppier.

i'd suggest a small increment up to 235/50/18. 0.4" greater diameter and 0.2" more sidewall. no appreciable performance detriment or possible rubbing issues.
