2020 Production

I was just notified by my CA that the 2019 X1 I ordered in late April will not be produced. Instead,I have been switched to a 2020 that has a tentative build week in mid June.

My 2019 had a build week of 18 (April 30-May 3) which is the week they halted production due to the B1 pillar problem.

Same price, same options—M sport, Premium package, upgraded sound system, driver assist, no moonroof.

Are they giving you the option to spec it out to the new version or just matching it as you had previously built it? Curious if there are any other options applicable to the new version that weren't there for the last one

Edit to add: sucks about the crazy delay, but it seems like they're doing the right thing. Congrats on the new wheels!

Asked BMW Chat on their website if my order will be post facelift. Was told the build date is 10th June and pre facelift. I asked when the post facelift was available to order and they wouldnt tell me and referred me to the dealer.

Wonder if the new facelift is a USA priority.

I don’t have any additional information yet. I do know production for the 2019 stopped on May 2nd (the Thursday of my scheduled build week).

I read on another forum that there is supposed to be a technical upgrade (TU) to the B48 engine for the 2020 model. I presume that is a good thing. I’ll let you know when I find out any new details.

The technical upgrade is already in place I think - https://www.auto-data.net/en/compare...=35946&carId3=

The new petrol is actually slower, heavier and produces more CO2 than the old one

Are X1’s built for the USA market made in a different factory than those destined for the UK?

I think NA X1s are built in Brazil. European are in Germany. Someone from NA can confirm this by checking his VIN.

I don't know that my build is a facelift or not. I don't have a confirmed production week. Only an estimate of mid June from my CA. I do know that production of 2019 models ended on May 2nd.

BTW--All X1s for NA are built in Regensburg, Germany or Born, Netherlands (Nedcar).

Apologies I misread your first post and took a 2020 build as post facelift. Dealer said mine would be built in Germany.

The engines will become more powerful: the base 1.5 will develop 155 instead of 136 hp, and a two-liter turbo-engine - 214 instead of 192 hp.

X1s in NA all come with the 2.0 L Twin Turbo rated at 228 hp. There is no other engine option.

These motors are certified in China for the new BMW X1 LCI. I assume that for Europe they will be the same.

Even the 228 hp NA 28i is slow. I don't know how the Euro folks live with only 136 hp, that's a motorbike power.

I agree weak power 136hp. The future for hybrids and electric vehicles is good power and fuel consumption.

I cannot agree with that, having driven the 18i 1.5Litre X1 over 14000 miles in just over 12 months. It is certainly not underpowered and has surprised me and friends who've been in it.
Maybe the future lies with electric power, but it's too soon to go down that route because the technology is moving forward at a rapid rate and I fear today's hybrid or pure electric cars will be old hat within the usual ownership time span of around two to four years and therefore lose out on depreciation.

BMW plans to present 25 hybrid models by 2025.
A quick look at the plans presented by BMW shows quite ambitious intentions of the brand.
We can see 25 future innovations equipped with hybrid systems.
This once again demonstrates the desire of all global concerns to conduct the earliest electrification of their cars.As noted in the company, the dynamics of sales of hybrids is constantly growing. Today, around 400,000 electrified BMWs are in use around the world.
By the end of the year it is planned to increase this figure to 500,000 hybrids and electric vehicles. According to the results of the first four months of 2019, 36,697 electrified models of the concern were sold.
