Burger Tuning JB+

Looking to add a bit more power to my 2018 X1 and I don't much reviews regarding the Burger Tuning JB+ specific to X1/Mini.

Anybody here have any reviews regarding the subject matter? I'm very interested in trying it out and see how it goes. Like to wake up the X1 a bit for more punch.

I have it, definitely noticeable. Whats great with Burger Motorsports is that if you decide the JB+ is not enough they will credit you back the price of the JB+, if you purchase the JB4. I think the JB+ with the BMS Billet intake is a great combo. Good noise and some noticeable gains.

Sounds good! Is it possible that you can take a photo on the your engine bay on where exactly the JB+ connects? I'm looking all over youtube but couldn't find one.

Go to the burger site and download the installation pdf. 2nd or 3rd page shows the b46 connection point

Should be right in the front, like BMWZ4 said you should be able to locate it from the photos on the installation guide.

For anyone running this, I'm curious what your experience with is the Boost Adjustment. I'm here in Southern California, 91 octane is the highest available to us. Anyone maxed this out running 91? Adding a booster? Or are all of you blessed with access to quality fuel?

Not running it, but you could throw in some Boostane to get it up to 93 octane

I know there's plenty on both sides of the argument, but I've had a shop tell me first hand they've seen the gunk these boosters build up over time. Think it's fine for a here-and-there solution, but to run that stuff every tank full is a chance I'm personally not going to take.

Considered an E85 mixture, I guess I'm probably more open to that. Just don't like that there's no clear way to know what's really going on in the tank.

What's the deal with CA being so determined to make sure I can't just buy quality fuel? =/

The way I see it, you have three options:

1. Lower the boost. Dinansport for example would only require 93+ fuel for the top "Race" option
2. Try fuel booster. Different brands promise different octane level raise. But it's not the ideal solution if you ask me and can be risky for your engine.
3. Watermeth injection system. This is by far the best option for your situation especially when you live with the hot air of california. It will also have the benefit of cleaning your engine valve preventing buildup caused by the DI system. It'll also be more economical in the long run especially if you run a low methanol mix or even pure water!

Good to know. I read about buildup in BMWs from Torco, but not from Boostane.

This is why I'm here! I've never even heard of the Watermeth injection system, but I'll spend some time looking into it. Let's face it, the tuner is unlocking the potential in the engine that has been suppressed because of people like me who can't get decent fuel. So it only makes sense that I'm not going to be able to push this thing unless I get that resolved.

Trust me, for every person who tells you Boostane or any other product can leave harmful deposits, you'll find two who say they don't. At minimum it's going to coat everything orange. Guess it's a decision each has to weigh out for themselves

Not exactly conclusive but if anyone's interested in the effects of the boosters:

Glad I can help! This is a good intro video:

BMW has in fact been using it too on M4.
https://www.bmw-m.com/en/topics/maga...00-horses.html
Can save up to 40% of gas too as the engine doesn’t need to use a rich fuel ratio to prevent knock.
FTP Motorsport’s charge pipe comes with the hole for injection. Very well build product and a must for anyone planning to increase boost. Good luck!

Not sure if it's the same, but this is how to install in an X2. The info from Berger is a little confusing and not up to date. Difference is noticeable and makes the tires chirp.

I had just put one in. First make sure the engine is cold, so that you can maneuver the plug around without getting burn by the nearby hose. The plug was challenging to release because of the angle its in. Other than that its a five minute job.
