FOB left in the vehicle
I have a 2018 BMW X1 with most of the options. I noticed that on my Infiniti if I leave my FOB the car makes a special beep if I try to lock it with the FOB inside the car.
My Bimmer on the other hand lets you lock the car with the key FOB left in it. Is this normal and if so why does BMW allow this to happen? Good thing we have the app that allows you to unlock and lock the doors remotely with your cell. |

Same with my wife's '18. Can't lock the vehicle with the keys inside.

I have a 2017 and it won't lock with the key FOB in the car and will beep if I try. Take it to the dealership, its possible one of the antennas is bad.

Did you happen to have the second fob within range when you tried? Logically it should allow you to lock one fob inside the car if it "knows" there's another one outside.

Okay so if I leave one FOB in the car it won't let me lock the car and beeps however if I leave the second FOB in the car while I have the first FOB on me next to the car it will lock the car with the second FOB in it. My dealership confirmed this so people be careful. If you go out with a two fobs (one in a purse of in the cup holder you risk a lot.
