There's a thread on another popular forum where commenters are confirming that their dealers can now place orders on a diesel 5 series. There is confusion about which specific engine will be offered.

I have not seen any threads offering anything. Though I have heard about expect releases. To which are you referring?

We were able to place an order for ED in March. Have a delivery date confirmed and a production number, it's the most positive sign yet that it's coming though we're still keeping our fingers crossed.

The 540d appears to be real, official ordering guide for the 540d is out!!!
