water leak passenger door[fixed, changed vapor barrier]

Hello my f20 is leaking at the passenger door when its raining heavily.....it is like a small squirt of water.....i will attach a photo soon.....i thought that the drains might be clogged and have used the air compressor to clean the drains in the door and in the engine bay but it was in vain.....is there some sort of easy fix or must i buy replacements (ofc i will buy for all doors because i am quite fond of my car and i dont like water squirting in even if its in small quantities

Burn the car (don't overlook a useful opportunity of having someone deserving locked in) and get another one. Play dry!

Seriously, in the picture I see nothing I would worry about (after a heavy rain in particular).

If looking for pleasure, don't cover your rig.

I've never driven it in a heavy enough rain to test out the seal yours has.

I have not driven it while it happened.....the water seems to come from that circle i have made in the last picture and from the lower part of that big seal

Maybe you can align the parts slightly better where they intersect, to make the transition smoother.

The water is coming inside only there where that large seal meets with that plastic cover....it is coming from underneath the seal not over the seal

Mine does that too. I just pray to the weather gods for the rain to be firm but consistent.

I checked all the seals, nothing seemed wrong and it is only a tiny bit of water.

Greetings,i have changed all the vapor barriers in all 4 doors at a dealership in austria and i have not had any issues since then.I did not change any seals since the dealer advised me that they are not the issue and he was correct, the vapor barrier inside the front passenger door was the problem

Thanks for the info. I had a look under my door and can see the water comes out of the door panel. So it all makes sense. Will be going to be fixed in 3 weeks time. Hopefully the dealer knows what they are doing.

Issue must have occurred after they fixed a broken window (theft). My guess if they may have reused vapor protection incorrectly instead of changing when removing glass pieces ?

the vapor barrier may have just deteriorated on its own

In my case the mechanic simply forgot to put it back. Luckily I was standing next to him and pointed that out. I've no doubt he would have never disassembled the door again just to install the piece on his own or the foreman accepting his work would've made him to. He wasn't especially careful or using extra glue/etc attaching it either. He used a printed piece of manual to follow.

BMW calls this thing "sound insulation" and that's what I thought it was. Vapor... There's plenty on these leaks to be found. It's hard to imagine this oilcloth(?) piece can need replacement on a not too ancient car (worth replacement as a whole?) at least.
