MY 2017 build

I'm considering replacing my X3 with the new X1 and thinking of doing a custom order again since I can't find the exactly build in any of the inventories.

I was talking to a sales person in my dealership (CA, US) and she said she already has allocation for a 2017 build. The one thing she couldn't tell me is whether anything is changing for 2017. Specifically I was hopeful to see the Blind Spot detection in the next model year which I really expect to see in a 40k+ car.

Does anybody have any info about MY 2017? Did anybody order yet?

Thanks.

I'm wondering the same thing, though in a bit different of a situation, as I need to wait for the VW diesel settlement details before I decide to put in my order. My dealer told me they would let me know as soon as they knew something, but I haven't heard anything yet.

I'm praying for the plug in hybrid model that's been seen testing.

I don't know about 2017 ordering but I had a 2011 X3 and really like my 2016 X1. I agree it is better to order exactly what you want. I'm sure the new order guides will come soon.

Great to hear that.
Just curious, did you consider other options to replace the X3 with or the X1 was the clear choice?

Loyal to the brand. The X3 was a decent ride but I never really liked the exterior on my pre LCI or interior style. I liked the driving dynamics though.

I love pretty much everything about the X3 (maybe except the Nav system) including the styling. All factors considered, I think it's the best car I have owned. But now it's starting to become expensive to maintain. Shame that from MY2017 they won't have the 4 years free maintenance.

The reason I'm still a little bit on the fence with the X1 is that I like taking the X3 off road from time to time and I don't think the X1 will be as capable as the X3 in that area. But since it's my wife's main car and not mine, that comes second But the lack of Blind spot detection really is bothering me (first world problems I guess).

Can you wait for the next generation X3?

I would but my wife wants a smaller car. And one that has a styling to her liking. X1 is one of those and it keeps me loyal to the brand so I'm ok with it.

That's a critical issue for me as well. I think you both will be impressed with the X1.
