BMW X1 - Option 1AG Touring Fuel Tank
Just having placed an order for an X1 xLine 25d , found an option on the dealers screen that I hadn't noticed in the configurator . It was 1AG Touring Fuel Tank £40. Well I opted for it assuming it will increase the fuel tank capacity of the X1 from 51 litres to 60 litres. So an extra 2 gallons eh?
The dealer seemed to know very little about it. Has anyone else had this option fitted?? |

It is what you just said, a 10 litre upgrade basically (51L to 61L). Standard with 20i and 25d. Optional with 20d. Might be a different story outside the UK.

Really wish I could have specified this when I ordered mine in November - dealer said not possible, and it wasn't on his screen.

Just checked April's price list. Looks like it's also available as option with 18d. So that's the entire UK engine range. Still standard with 20i and 25d. See page 14. Last edited by KPD; 04-06-2016 at 12:04 PM.. |

Really weird all the differences among the countries. I orderd my 18d with bigger fuel tank in August 2015 and no problem.
If i really wait a long time till i have 50km's left i can fuel 55L so i really don't know where the other 6L is or BMW have build in a Large buffer |

It's always been baffling with BMW.
Some I can understand have marketing reasons or have something to do with local rules and regulations (emission, tax, etc.; no 25i in the UK). But the M Sport steering wheel for example... I don't understand why we can't have it as an option here in the UK. Or sport seats and the US market... It's unnecessarily confusing and bizarre. |

I've ordered the touring fuel tank, 51L is really small, all my previous cars have been 60-75L |

Thanks for the responses guys. The Touring fuel tank is not standard on the 25d! I've had to pay £40 as an extra option for it!! I was assuming the tank is 61 litres but don't know for sure. I'm wondering if anyone who has ordered it can clarify its capacity?

I think whatever I get will be a revelation when I only get about 250-350 miles out of the Porsche, but to be fair I can still get 35mpg on a motorway run, which isn't bad.

Yes it's 61lt. Everytime I refill, after the reserve tank indicator has flashed, I usually put 55lt of fuel. I once refilled with 58lt.

In the netherlands the larger fuel tank (61Ltr) is a option.
You pay less tax with the smaller fuel tank. Last edited by BMW X1 4 Me; 04-07-2016 at 05:46 PM.. |

Must admit I am very jealous of your list of options mate! Wish I could afford that but as mine is a lease car I didn't want to spend too much on options!

I can see why. Yours is already £4K more expensive than mine before options. But really, a lot of those are nowadays standard on cheap non-luxury cars. Folding mirrors, headlight wash, dimming rear view mirror, reversing camera... These should be standard.

As far as I am aware I have the 51L tank but until now it never crossed my mind.
The original sales brochure dated August 2015 shows 2.5d as having 51L with no option to increase. In this brochure only the 2.0i is shown as having the 61L tank as standard. My owners manual just shows "Fuel tank approx. 51L.........Larger fuel tank 61L" but it doesn't show specifically by model / engine? |
