My commute is short like 1 mile. My current dd is a m3 sedan but I want some thing that I can take in the snow and I mean real snow not a dusting to an inch. and haul shit around when needed.

Yeah, some more info would be useful. In that price range if it were me, I would look for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The reason being is that I prefer a true SUV with a 4WD system containing low range over the cross-over SUVs (which are basically hatchbacks on stilts). I would actually want to use an SUV to go 4-wheeling, which I know the majority of the SUV target market doesn't care about.

If you're gonna haul ANYTHING the X1 is near useless, it's a shoebox.
I am also extremely nervous about owning German out of warranty, if your CPO i will assume you'll ditch it once the warranty expires. If it were me, TBh I'd get an XC60 or a Ford Edge if i was hauling anything. X1/X3/Q5 are small for Home Depot duty. The Edge or RX350 is a tad larger, i think the Volvo may be too. Ideally i'd be looking at an Audi A6 Allroad as a brilliant compromise but the only ship the tiny A4 Allroad. madness. An outback with the V6 and fully loaded is under 40k in the US. Want another odd option? Saab 9-3 wagon, AERO trim from 2009. Get the tune and you're rocking 350HP, looks great and carries WAY more stuff than a Q5 or X3. It'll set you back maybe $15K. Basically, you need to decide if you're just commuting or really using it for home depot duty. |

Any reason for not considering the GLK350? My girlfriend recently had this exact same dilemma and eventually chose the GLK. We really WANTED to like the X-line, but were underwhelmed by their look and feel. They were covered in generic black plastic trim and the only way to avoid that was by getting the M-line (or whatever it's called these days) package. Even with the M package the 28i seemed to drive the same as the GLK and the 35i line was $10k+ more in price (not a consideration). The Evoque I'm sure is a nice car, but we weren't impressed by the exterior design. To us, it had too much of a resemblance to the Ford Flex. We also looked at the Acura MDX. It really is a great car, but it was in a lower category compared to BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc. The runner-up for us was the Audi Q5. The interior is absolutely beautiful in them and the controls/navigation interface was leaps and bounds better than anything we saw at the same price point. Of note: We also test drove an Audi SQ5 which was an amazing car. Ultimately, she decided it didn't make sense to buy a $65k vehicle. She chose the GLK largely because nothing could come close for under $50k with the options she wanted. She's had it for about 2-3 months now and I will admit that I'm very much a fan of the car. |

Not many CPO'ed since its new and to much $$$ new.
Have you driven this car? It drives like a bowl of chocolate pudding. This is a horrible car, but this is my opinion. X5 yea maybe....But also maybe out of my price range on a car with low miles.

Oh yea sorry, i completely over looked the CPO part.
What about a 2012 Porsche Cayenne? It's not as big. I consider it mid sized. You can get one for $40k-$45k If not, How about an Audi Q5? The only other SUV at that price that'll get my attention is 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I'm baised towards Range Rover (obviously) but I'll add that if you're looking to haul more than a couple of gallons of paint from Home Depot, cross the Evoque off your list. The Evoque's cargo space is smaller than an e9x trunk!
In the $40k-$50k range you could get a CPO Range Rover Sport or Porsche Cayenne. X3 and Q5 are nice options too. Go test drive a few and pick the one that stands out in your mind.

SUV? I'd go with the new Explorer. It's actually really nice. I've driven one because we're considering one for my wife to replace her current hatchback hybrid. A fully loaded explorer sport is pretty darn nice.
Me? I use my new baby... But I pull a trailer with it from time to time, so... F-250 Lariat Super Duty (with the 6.7 turbo diesel)

The Explorer with the EcoBoost is pretty sporty and nice. Ford has really started to do good work. The interior of my Lariat F-250 is almost as nice as my BMW, just bigger. It has everything my BMW does. Originally I thought of Ford as cheap plastic junk, but they have come quite a ways. Sure, it doesn't say BMW or Audi or Porsche, but they are a lot better than they used to be. Fully loaded and brand new is in your price range. It's worth a look.
