335I Sport Suspension Shocks

What is the exact difference in the shock on the 335I rear shocks for sport verse non-sport.

My shocks are leaking oil and will not pass inspection and the dealer believe it or not wants $1400 to do the work, they claim as usually the sport shock are more expensive than the standard. I look on line and having a hard time finding stock replacement for the sport suspension, there are lots of option for now sport and most all of them specifically say not for sport suspension. It seems that most of the option for the sport suspension is to go with upgrades not OEM replacements, right now not interested in putting the cost out for an upgrade.

I can not tell what the difference is in the stock verses sport shock other than maybe how they respond, sport being more responsive, are they mechanical difference that one will not fit.

Anyone know for sure?

TIA

You could switch to some Koni or Bilstein and have an indy shop do it for less than $1400.

Oh trust me I know I can get it done for a lot less, I did my clutch with for under $1000 myself and dealership wanted $3000. I am trying to understand the difference in the shocks, I am think they have different mounting hardware and can not be intermix. I also want to make sure I get the right parts since some places do not say if they work on sport package or not I have seen this for aftermarket upgrades they do not make a distinction but BMW points out the standard does not work in sport.

Thanks, I am not sure why I could not find them on ECS, that was the first place I went to look since I bought my clutch from them. Their website is not the easiest to use. I did find this one on there and was considering it.

I am in the midst of searching for he right setup. I am not going Koni because I don't want to adjust anything. I had Koni Sports on a Civic and I liked them. I can't decide on the B4s with existing sport springs, B6s or B12 Pro-kit.

The B4s are shortened for the factory Sport suspension and the price is right.

thanks for the link, I plan an upgrade in the future, I am just not ready to do it and it did not make sense putting performance shocks in when other things need to updated. I am planning to put the M3 front end part on and doing coil over in the rear, I just want to get pass inspection and the ones you found fit the bill for now. So $100 and about an hour or so of time and it is done verses the $1400 estimate from BMW, they should be really ashamed of themselves, if the SA told me it would have been $300 I probable would have said go ahead and do the work, since now I have to do it and it 20 degrees out and I hate working on cars in cool weather.

Bmwparts.com for oem sport shocks or you could use the bilstein b4 touring which are the only replacement. These aren't the yellow colored upgrades. They look just like the stock ones.
