I bought my m135i for 42k euros 2 years ago. That was with quite some options as well. Like sunroof, at gearbox, leather heated sport seats, hifi audio, full navi, comfort access,... I did negotiate a decent rebate. Official list price was 54k.

Ok guys! Autowerks Bangkok just confirmed they can do my 116i on Monday!

I will definitely be one of the first in Bangkok, or in Asia for that matter who flash tune the F-series.
The tune is offered by Mcchip-DKR Performance in Germany. Gains are +79PS & +80NM (215HP & 300NM). They offer a 5 year warranty on the tune itself. So if BMW overwrites the software, they will do a re-flash. I can also go back to stock, as they keep a backup.

He also said BMW has no way tracing it at the dealership. They are not equipped to read out that part of the ECU. Just error codes and so forth..

I will report back on Monday :P

Just want to say, for those you who are interested in a HARTGE tuning box, I will sell mine.

http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1082435

I have been very happy with it. Significant gains, and very smooth power delivery. I can deliver.

Yes a before/after log would be awesome. I can strongly recommend the Torque App. A log of a 1500 to 7000rpm pull in 3rd gear will tell you all about the tune

The N13 got lots of potential. The New Peugeot RCZ R Biomota got 304HP from that little 1.6 Turbo.

a) Should i unplugg the battery before unpluggin the ecu?
b) Can i find any instruction about unpluggin the ecu?
c) I dont own a private parkin so for 4-5 days my car will be un covered. Dou you think i will face moisture problems with te 'free' ecu cables n contacts?

It's Saturday and no updates?? Can't wait. LOL

How much did they charge you? How different is this from BR performance and why did you not choose this route?

Some real life performance would be good too! Have fun with your tune!

I'm also very interested in why you didn't choose BR Performance and what you think about the car after tuned ECU?

I'm like to tune my car in a short periode of time as well. The reason for that is that i drove a m235i a couple of days ago. Now the damm car leaking every bit of driving pleasure or excitement ;-)

You need to find a very slow car to drive for a week, and the 116i will feel fast and exciting again!

The engine's performance is ok, but paired with the automatic gearbox, it feels "choked". On a kickdown, and it hits 4000 RPM, nothing happens. After the re-map, the car just feels like it's supposed to feel. Its pure joy and happiness. I have a grin on my face every time I drive now Besides the added torque is also nice. Uphill it doesn't need to downshift anymore. More power all the way!

The dealer just called me and told me the have a map upgrade for me - for free! Even more horses and VMAX unlock

http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1084682

BR is not available in Bangkok. mcchip-dkr is ..

With mcchip (Local dealer in Bangkok is called Autowerks), I don't have to send the ECU away. They have the equipment locally. They give me 5 years warranty. Free updates, free "back-to-stock". Service has been excellent so far

I had the tune around a week now. It's very smooth. After the car calibrated itself, it's just feels like a stock car with similar power to a 125i

Great news! I have a automatic as well and it definitely feels "choked" as you said. For me both dealers (Mcchip-dkr and BR-performance) are within a two hours of driving, but with a €600,- (+/- $680,-) price difference in favor of BR-performance with the same warranty agrement and service level.

Great review, especially the comparison with Hartge and real world figures.

I believe that the extra costs for mcchip-dkr maybe to unlock the ECU if they do not have the local capability. Either way, I will be happy to pay double for a local garage to do the whole process for me and provide warranty, than having to send off my ECU halfway round the world.

Once again congrats on your 'new' car. cheers
