M135i charge pipe blown - Australia options?

Hi all

Just blew my charge pipe on Friday (2012 model, manual transmission, 55,000km, racechip otherwise stock). Looking back on things, the pipe has probably been failing for last 5-10km, noticed that during cold mornings felt much quicker and warmer temps didn't seem to have same boost and was probably leaking. During failure heard a "poof" sound, lost 80% of power at least, engine drive train light came on and I thought the worst that I had lost the turbo. Relieved to see it's just the pipe. It failed at about 2500rpm as the larger scroll started spooling, wasn't giving it much stick at the time.

Have a good euro mechanic on central coast NSW, but he can't find anything except factory replacement charge pipe (and has ordered one). There are N55 aftermarkets available but he tells me that the non-F20 N55 charge pipes have a different clip and not compatible with N55 F20.

Anyone else around Sydney or NSW area have replaced their charge pipe with non-factory? I could have sworn I have seen people on forums stating they have replaced theirs.

Also, keen to know about getting more horsepower from this motor options than simple chips, anyone around Sydney replaced their turbo? Other mods to boost power? I see overseas people are doing things but would prefer a local workshop with experience.

Thanks!

Tell your mechanic hey is a a****e , there are plenty of alternatives, I have the one from FTP fitted on my M135iX - 12/2015 build. Another is for example BMS ( Burger Motor Sport ) a bit more expensive and there are many others.

Thanks very much for the reply, the problem is all those suppliers are overseas, my car is off the road until it's fixed and it's my daily driver.

I sent a forum member a message who said he is now an evolution racewerks distributor but no reply as yet.

Just to close this thread off, new OEM charge pipe fitted, $1080 fitted (Aus$727 for BMW charge pipe). Car drives like new now, I think the charge pipe has been leaking for months.

If you're noticing "perceived" power loss, and your N55 engine is 40,000k or more, definitely worth considering.
