Paint correction?
Hi there,
My 2018 1 Series in Alpine White is just over a year old now. I have owned it for four weeks. I am assuming the BMW dealership I purchased it from must have used some sort of wax before putting it into the show room as slowly some wear and tear marks are showing which were not visible when I purchased it. In particular, I can see my driver door has obviously hit something red in the past. This colour was not there when I bought the car and has only shown through in the past few weeks. Similarly on my driver door, I have seen these two attempted repairs on what I am assuming are door dings. Does anyone have any advice on how I can get this correctly sorted or would it be better to leave them alone? |

I use Meguiar #9
Use #9 to clean up the areas and remove the red. Apply BMW touch up paint and wait for it to set a few minutes (you'll need to play with timing) Use #9 to "sand" down touch up paint level w/surface If you do it right you will not be able to see the repair. May take some practice. This is one of the main reason I buy white cars. |

Agreed w/ a compound to remove the red. That means it's on your car, and can be taken off. This is pretty easy.
The others are tough, it takes care / skill / practice to fill in dings very well. I have been putzing DIY with cars including full paint jobs for ~ 30 years and I have learned to just leave the small stuff alone. It's part of having a car you actually drive. That said do feel free to go for it. |

Use the Chipex paint repair process. I purchased this for my light grey M135 and the repair is nigh on invisible.
Find them online, the kit costs £34.99. Touch up kits from dealers are rarely very good not to mention messy. |
