Lol ok. I wonder if the majority share your experience. I certainly enjoyed 2020 LCI X1. :
We have an X1, it is a 2016, and it is nice vehicle. Great for hauling stuff and my daughter loved it so much it became exclusively her vehicle. I still drive it from time to time and it is fun to drive. I have a 340 and the X1 is certainly not quick like the 340, nor does the older 2016 have the newer features, but is still car that I am impressed with. An updated and quicker little X1M might be a real hit. Will be interesting to see if this takes off.

I was very impressed with X1 too! I can't wait to see X1M in a dealership showroom when it comes out!

It may be a SAV but I think it's always nice to add a full on M product to the lineup so this is good stuff in my opinion.

They're already here!

Despite not being interesting in anything called an X1. They're here to tell us all how bad a car it is and that it's FWD trash.

Yes that is an X1M. To accompany the X1 xDriveM35i.

With everyone distracted by The IAA mobility. Super sleuth Wilco Blok caught these on the move. I reached out and the car they were "seriously considering" has moved forward to production status.

It makes sense when compact performance SUVs are popular with the GLA 45 AMG and Audi RSQ3 and Sportback models and the VW T-Roc R. Makes perfect sense for the X1M to join in the fun.

Engine still should be a four cylinder turbo mated to AWD BMW xDrive.

No specifics yet but that should filter in the next few days but expect close to or around 400PS? Competition model?

The fact this makes it through "the BMW market research vetting process" and they can't give us a G81 M3 Touring in the US is an absolute travesty.

I'm not hating on this car, I'm hating on the selection process for new models…

I can comfortably ignore people who attach their ego to an object.

BMW has been doing a great job over the years!

For some reason, BMW has concerns on releasing G81 in the US. I wonder what that is.

They would rather sell a US Spartanburg made X to those customers rather than pay import costs on a Touring.

More profit.

It's FWD-based AWD. And having owned an F48, I will say it feels very FWD. We got a good deal on it as a grocery getter but we sold it after about 2 years. A boring an uninteresting vehicle with much better and cheaper competition. There is no reason to buy one unless you are very into the brand.

They missed their chance with the F87 2 series/M2. That would have been a potent 4 door, literally the e46 M3 sedan that never was made.

Oh the day is here. A FWD platform based full blown “M” product (not Mxxx or M performance)
Guess not surprising? But still disappointing…
If anything I’d hope they put more energy on their lackluster Electric lineups

The X1 is the dullest and most dreary car in BMW's lineup. Why would they waste M division engineers time on it? If you want a hot version of this platform, just buy a Mini.

If there will be a X1M, does it mean, we will have a F40 1 Serie M ?

Asking that because of the same plateforme shared and more or less same motors...

I wonder the same thing. Looking at the competition (GLA45, RSQ3) it will be in the mid-60k range. Like, who in their right mind would buy a FWD 4-cyl crossover for that kind of money? You can get a M2C or if you want a SUV a X3 M40i...

A smaller package with lower centre of gravity than other X models, AWD, a stonking M engine, with a good design from the donor car - sounds like a sure fire hit.
