Are you using photoshop's HDR feature or doing it manually? I do it manually. It takes a lot of masking and adjustments.

I can shoot bracketed HDR shots...but they are just more vivid in color. As far as photostacking I have tried PS & LR and it never seems to work. It might be that stuff in the pic changed and the program doesn't like that, I don't really know. I just never managed to get it to work

Yeah the built in photostacking never really worked for me. My process is this:

Prep work in Lightroom:

Apply lens correction
Eliminate vignette
Apply noise reduction for high ISO shots
Choose shots based on elements I want to preserve. For this shot I chose a properly exposed car shot, city shot, then sky shot.
Export all three to Photoshop

Photoshop work:

Stack shots manually, lining up shots to account for camera bumps if I have to
Mask the cars with the pen tool which are the top layers
Use the built in "Sky replacement" on the city shot, but throw out everything but the masking. Use the mask on the city shot.
Mask all the shots appropriately to get desired elements integrated
Adjust each element to taste (curves, color correction etc
Save for Lightroom

Back in Lightroom:
Final global adjustments
Cropping, noise reduction, overall color tone etc
Export

It took about 2 hours to process this shot. Hope this helps!

I did two night runs last week! But I mostly do track days, Time Attack, and the occasional Autocross.
