I definitely see many of the guys 5-10 Years younger than me rocking either the single sling small packs, fanny packs starting to make a come back and of course satchels are popular in the city.

But that's where the civilians roam...

The same age group of males that happen to share the same occupation as me, rely on the time tested, standard issue 3-5 day assault packs, or a personally purchased version of a military style assault pack with better compartmentalization options based on their needs.

I, for example, have been very happy with my Dragon Egg assault pack for it's durability over the years in rain, sand, woodland conditions, while either traveling through an airport, riding my motorcycle for about 300 miles (one way) on multiple occasions and or navigating obstacles either over, under, around... or straight through!
I'm trying to steer away from the "tacticool" look. It screams CCW.

I like how I can just swing the sling bag around to the front and get to everything quickly. The drawstring requires removal and then you have to undo it etc... plus I like zippers. More secure.

Yes, I have a nice professional messenger bag for work. The sling bag seems to balance the weight on your back better though. I found I had to shift the messenger bag from one shoulder to the next so I wouldn't get fatigued. With a sling bag, I could do a 5 mile hike on the same shoulder.

seriously though messenger bags are the shiz, or if you want more control check a roll top backpack.
I have the same problem with a satchel that I do with a messenger bag.

I have a roll top for camping and hiking. They are good for compressing the pack for whatever your payload is so that you don't get extra "bag" flopping around. However, it doesn't make accessibility as fast as a sling bag. For daily use, the sling bag is pretty ideal for me.

Yup, there's just so much more to carry now then back in the day when all I had to worry about was myself and my pager. I forgot to add that I almost always carry a portable charger. There's no way I'm putting a brick in my pocket.

I just ordered this from Amazon:

I think I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality and manhood to sport it and look better than the guy in the photo. I'll be sure to not be stroking the back of my head like that in public while wearing this.

LOL. Looks like he's packing some gerbils in there. Yeah, don't do the hand behind the head thing when you're using it.

I mean you’re inviting the catcalls by putting “purse” in the thread title. If you called the thread something like ‘EDC’ you’re a manly man looking to have an extremely masculine conversation

I understand completely.

It definitely carries a stigma, like everything else associated with our individual appearances.

For me, it's simply multipurpose since I travel so much for work as it is, to have one backpack that I can use to carry my everyday items wether in our out of uniform, without having to swap between multiple bags because a particular bag isn't authorized.

Just more efficient for my particular needs, but I'm sure you'll find something that looks great and fits your purpose for everyday use.

If you own a murse I'm sure that look is instinctive... you know like touching your face... you probably do that 50 times a day and not even notice.

I got this to carry my laptop and paperwork to/from the office. I don’t use the sling though. I use it more like a briefcase.

I have Briggs and Riley Expandable Cabin Bag that I use for the office and business trips where I am bringing my laptop. Best bag I've ever had and it's lasted for about 10 years and looks new. It expands so I can throw some clothes and toiletries in there for an overnight, then can shrink to take into a meeting. It's so versatile!

It's just too big, and I need a sling for daily casual use.

One thing I dislike in any bag is big straps and big flaps over the top. I like zippers instead. I don't want to fiddle with straps, then open a big flap. I prefer one motion accessibility. That's why I don't like traditional messenger bags like Timbuk2 either.

That’s a nice bag. Definitely more versatile than the one I have, but I use mine strictly for the laptop and paperwork.

I don’t mind the flaps and straps. It only gets opened a few times a day so it doesn’t really bother me.

So Joey and The Rock are the argument NOT to rock a manbag? Joey was banging EVERYTHING on that show that wasnt part of the core friend group (and I think he banged a couple of them too) and The Rock is The Rock.

He is the Rock and even the Rock admits the look wasn't good...

Personal carry for me if needed is a Goruck black backpack.

I dont see any criticism of the bag, he just mentioned the cheap shirt and looking like a lesbian (which I suspect was a judgement of the overall look).

And its a fanny pack. Brad Pitt was often seen rocking a messenger bag/satchel over his shoulder while riding the MV Agusta Angelina Jolie bought him around SoCal. If wearing one while riding a $20k exotic motorcycle bought for him by the woman he was banging (who EVERYONE wanted) makes him gay then get me a pride flag stat!

Don't get bent out of shape, I was not attacking the bag. Rock what ever you like and meets your needs. Me personally, if I need to carry more than I can fit in my pockets that usually means my iPad or laptop etc and therefore the back pack. A messenger bag would do the trick as well.
