120i F20 B48 JB4 Map w/o DP any risk?
Hi guys,
I'm new here and reading through some posts I see there's a lot of info on the previous engine but not too much on the new one, at least on what I'm interested in now: can I run JB4 Map 2 without downpipe safely? I did run for a few days with Map 2 and compared with Map 1 and stock is like heaven and hell, it feels so much more powerful but I read before that in order to use (or at least take advantage of) Map 2 you must at least have an aftermarket downpipe installed which I do not have yet. I really like how my car feels on Map 2 but if there's any risk I won't do it until I get a DP. So, is there any risk running on Map 2 without a downpipe? Thanks guys, I hope you can help me and I can help you back in anything I can ![]() |

Stay on map1 - would be a shame to damage the cat due to impatience

Thanks mieluise for sharing the information on 120i jb4. I have a 120i as well and like to try JB4 or bms on it.
I don't think it's going to make any damage to your car because I don't see JB4 provides a list which what kind/which brand of intake or downpipe should be use for map2. or even the standard of air flow. Why they suggested I think it's may because of various gas condition around the world and better intake and downpipe will definitely help the ecu to increase the psi easier |
