I think this car will look good, the problem seems to be in the red color. It honestly looks really aggressive and nice in every other color besides the red.

They should get Bangle back. They just can't figure out a non-hideous way to deal with these pedestrian impact regs. Audi doesn't have a problem with them.
Uhhh...the grille, boxy front end, tapered headlights, and look how damn high the hood and cowl are! The back looks like a typical econobox. The tail lights are fugly...the rest just boring and cheap looking. The curve of the rear fenders is remeniscent of a butt-cheak, and doesn't blend well with the chine or pillar. Side view is the best. The doors look pretty good...much like an e90. Nice windshield rake, roof shape, and front window shape. But there are still a lot of problems. Again- high cowl, blunt squared off high front end, and slightly too much front overhang. The chine is overdone...more Sonota than E90 towards the back. It also doesn't blend into the bulging rear venders very well. Very design-by-commitee. They tried to hard to integrate that ginormous hoffmeister kink. And why aren't the mirrors body-color? Nice interior Speaking of Hyundai, BMW better be careful. Here's a much better execution of a similar shape... |

No wonder they don't want to bring a Hatch over here. I wouldn't believe something that ugly would sell either. A few years from now, corporate will be saying "See, BMW hatchbacks don't sell in the states!" Well, DUH!!
My second car is a WRX hatch. While it needs a few simple suspension upgrades to be performance competitive and certainly isn't as fast, I simply can not see myself in this new BMW design as an alternative. And I don't really like the coupe that much either. I think I'll be just fine driving my 2008 around for a long-time to come. |

M sport package will only be available in March 2012. I wonder when they will release more powerful engines? I'm waiting for the 128i...

I am a fan of BMW but I want to say that it's not a great design for the new F20...
I am sure it will be very apreciated by a lot of people and it will have good number of sales. As I've found on the internet a blog which says here the capacity of the lugguage will be around 360 liters so that's a good point for that car, 1 series. |

I think I've kind of figured out what's wrong with the front end.
Due to Euro pedestrian impact standards, they need a higher front end. They thought their old shark nose from the 80's would be a good way to do this, but they only went half way, applying it only to the grille area. This means half the front end- the bumper and lights, are sweapt back as on existing designs like the 3 series and Z4, but the grille area is swept forward. If they want to do the shark nose, they have to apply it to the WHOLE front end, and square off the top edge of the bumper, rather than sweeping it up into the grille. VERY design by committee. They should've just done something like the front end on this concept car, but with a full-width bumper. It has much less of an underbits, and the shark nose is the full width of the hood. [img] This design would also be controversial if it were on the new 1, but at least SOME people would like it. That's how bangle would've done it- break new ground...not compromise and mash half of that design with half of the old one. The chipmunk cheeks rear fenders are pretty bad too, as is how far back and deeply cut the chine is. |

Not quite. The bottom of the grille either has to be as far forward as the top of the bumper (like the concept car), or it has to be a 90 degree angle to a horizontal top of the bumper. Also, the shark nose should continue over the tops of the headlights.
It's the area below the headlights/grill, but above the bumper, that do the most to make the front end an awkward design. But, the front edge of the hood and overall headlight shape play a roll, too. The hood probably should overhang the headlights for a full-width shark nose, as on the concept above, or the Vision concept... Before I found out the Vision would be a $200k exotic, I was hoping that's what the new 1 series would look like. BMW obviously has some good stylists- they're just doing design-by-committe for their mainstream cars. |

Really smart, just as smart as Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet, Renault, VW, GM, FIAT and some other makes they don't have to fear Chinese will copy their ugly cars.
