How many kilometres should new car have at delivery?

Hi
Picked up my M135. It had about 50kms on it. Is this normal? Bought other cars in the past and they only had about 15kms at delivery.
Thanks

usually 6-10 miles. 50k seems high, id ask the dealer, maybe someone took a trip to fuel it!

Thanks for responses guys.

I absolutely love the car. I chose it over the A45 because of RWD layout and in my view engine sounds better.

40km is not a big issue. It's just that car has 400 km on it now and I am still running it in. Is it worth me running in if dealer used it as demo before they delivered it to me. Car was bought new and I am first registered owner.

I know my car was driven around a bit to detailing and things like that before it was delivered to me. It was driven by the people working at the dealership. They would probably let potential customers look at it and sit in it as well, but not drive it.

The car only has 50Km on it and running in period is up to around approx 1800Km so yeah you should be running in for a while yet.

Better not be more that 5-7 miles on my car when I get it, certainly better not allow anyone else, potential customer or not, sit it let alone take it for a drive. Dealers have demo cars for that.

From memory mine (specific factory order) had 6 or so km on it.

Did you buy your car from dealer stock, and do you know the compliance date relative to your collection date? Sounds a bit like it's been an unregistered showroom car that's had trade plates put on for a couple of test drives - if it had been sitting at the dealership for a few months, I suppose it may have ended up getting moved around a bit, but 50km is still a fair bit for that.

Or was it moved from one dealer to another?

Car was built Sept 2013, landed in Aus Dec 2013 and I picked it up just after Xmas. I think car sat at the dealer for about 1 week before I picked it up.

Perhaps it went on a couple of test drives then, unless the dealer has a holding compound/service centre remote from their showroom - even so, seems a bit for a theoretically brand new car.

Can't have done it any harm though surely.

Some dealers have their storage away from the dealership, the car will also have to have been fuelled so I would assume some dealers are a few km's each way to a filling station. I guess this could also be true if they don't prepare/detail the car themselves and have a third party do it somewhere off site. Add to that the factory test, people driving the car on and off docks/ships and I can see how they could easily notch up 50km. I wouldn't worry about it and just get on with enjoying this great car.

Would'nt you rather consider the M235i? Since you are initially looking at a F82..

Yes but as I've not seen the rear space I'm not certain on the leg room/space in general for a 7 and 9 year old...whereas I know an M123i has the space. Would prefer the 235i for sure and I know the 4 series is big enough in the back....its pretty long!

I have an auto so can't comment on how the manual feels. The M135 is fantastic though. Even limiting revs to 4500 for running in it is a lot quicker than my 2010 325i Msport. Something I did not expect though is that the M135 is actually more comfortable to drive in traffic than the 325. There is not a lot of leg room in the back for adults but plenty comfortable to drive a couple of kids around.

Well, I just come home from the Brussels auto show where I sat in the new M235i. Also in the back. I'd say legroom is exactly the same as my f21 which is good for 4 adults on longer trips! The headroom in the 2er is slightly less than my hatch but it only lightly touched my head(in fact I think it has more room in the back than the 4er!) so it should be fine for a 9 year old. Ps, I'm 1m78 so average..
