Bmw 116d f20 Drivetrain Bollocks

Hi guys wondering if I can get someone opinion or advice on a drivetrain problem on my 2013 116d.

So brought the car about a month ago privately from a young ish kid, everything’s running good then Sod’s Law the car had a drivetrain error come up. So took it to get inspected by a bmw specialist (not official bmw garage). He had a look and was due to clutch but also noticed the noise from engine which obviously timing chain. Guy I brought from gave me false documents that the timing was done. Anyway all is good had the car for a week after repairs and drivetrain again but then quickly disappeared and hasn’t come in since🙄 mechanic had a look at the code and was EGR. He explain Bmw has recall for this and also recall on 4 other things 😒 called Bmw and nothing on record saying it needs a recall however we’re happy to book me in and have inspection. but if it’s nothing it’s 200 for the inspection! After spending 1300 am I best off winging it or take the bullet and go to Bmw thanks 🙏 this car is driving me nuts
