How do those vin decode webs work?
There are some vin decode web like bmwvin.com, when you put the last 7 numbers of your car's vin code, you can get all the detail of your car.
How does that work? 7 numbers contain all these informations? Or, the web site can query the internal database in BMW? |

There databases that can tell what kind of car it is, and production month. There are also internal BMW databases that can tell you what equipment was ordered with that exact car. This russian website seems to have the internal one:

Since ΒΜW is offering the same info through their website, it is not hard for all these sites to link directly to BMW database.
