News flash. The russians have had missile subs off our coast since the sixties. And we have them off their coast.

One of our subs can release 200+ warheads. And you are worried about hpersonic missiles??

I can't see US falling behind with what I see as a veiled threat from putin.Spy satellites must have been homing in beforehand on what they and China were up to.Even the secret Star Wars Reagan defence you mention was beyond the public imagination.
You may have probably seen from that time the clip of an unidentified flying bright light ball heading for earth suddenly turn away from an upward firing 'missile' or laser so I think by now the West is hypersonic aware.

Hypersonic aware isn't the same as being able to shoot them down.

Cry, overreact and blame Republicans for all their fictional fears. That’s the lefts default mode.

Exactly. There were Soviet spy boats(AGI) waiting right outside Norfolk for our ships to leave port and tried to follow us around. We were able to leave them well behind when the weather got snotty and seas lumpy. Soviet attack subs were right offshore as well.

Again exactly, We’ve been in a state of MAD with the Russians for many decades and once they start flying were all gone. The fact that they might have hypers shouldn’t concern anyone all that much. Nobody is going to pull the trigger because a faster missile makes an appearance, besides the Russians have over exaggerated their capabilities for a long time. They can’t be quickly believed with their military claims. Too much classified intel shows its their way.

So you will think russia will not launch 1000 ICBMs in a nuclear war....
Hint we can launch 1000 non-hypersonic ICBMs at russia or china. How many will they shoot down.

But I know you are always happy if the U.S. is taking it up the poop-shoot so just be happy.

These could be more tricky dickies than the icbm's we have been used to..putin has said they'll be 'operational' from '25 notwithstanding more accidents from developing them.Putin himself is rumoured to have some health disorder with another big bod waiting in the wings.. US may have this already covered by '25 though being the deadly nature of these red weapons are not letting on... just like the laser/missile we saw in that clip I mentioned.

There is technology available that could probably shoot down a hypersonic munition.

This is what I find funny:

Estimated speeds of "hypersonic" missiles: Between 3,836–7,673 mph

Reentry speed of current USA ICBM MIRV: Between 13,000–18,000 mph

What is the point of this thread again?

This is a fact. The US isn't like Kim Jong-un parading about their latest and greatest.

Think about the F-117 Nighthawk. That plane entered service in the early 80's which means it was developed as early as the 70's possibly the 60s.

That was forty to fifty years ago...I feel secure and confident in our country's defense capabilities and the general public nor world know much about what we truly have defensively. Hopefully we never will

Millions of illegals crossing our southern boarder is much more of a threat than hypersonic missles by a factor of a million.

I know someone who married an illegal even though they are a tea party republican and support a bigger border wall. Match made in heaven it is not. But that's what happens when you're desperate.

Having them serves our interests against current and projected threats more than potential concerns of other major players on the world stage using them against us.

Their warhead(s),will be doing Mach 27 and is maneuverable. This renders the US anti missle/warhead interceptor Technology worthless.

That would be over 21,000mph. I call bullshit. Care to back it up with the Source of this statement?

I don't get the panic. They have hypersonic missiles...cool brah. So what?

If we're at a point that they're launching them, everyone is cooked...including them.

The US has tons of capabilities to get a nuclear warhead right up Putin's ass. This is classic Russian sabre rattling so Putin can feel relevant.

I'll chime in here. The issue with the hypersonics vs the conventional ICBM is the altitude required for the ICBM, makes them easier to detect and track. The hyper also due have some capability to maneuver at their full speed. This still does not mean that they can not be tracked nor neutralized prior to impact with the intended target. It just makes it more difficult and not using old fashioned methods for ICBM interception.

And before we submit our findings to President Trump, we also need to distinguish between [1] the new reentry vehicles that have a less predictable total path and may have improved maneuverability in their last several minutes of flight... as well as [2] shorter range air and sea launched hypersonic missiles that can target high value assets and strain defense systems. This forum needs to provide solutions for both threats. Triumvirate coalition of planetary control? Putting Florida in charge of diplomacy? Next-gen tracking and rail-gun / laser defense systems?

We already have the defenses in place. I'll give you a hint, it's just not sharks with laser beams on their heads. Many other animals have them. Wait, I've said to much. Just know if you see a flying Bob's big Boy, it's time to duck.
