Steering Rack replacement - no OEM options : (
Been a while since I posted here. About 80K miles! Virtually trouble-free and lots of fun, mind you.
Until now the only issue with my M135i was an oil seal issue on the turbo. But now the steering rack has been declared as worn and on the way out. Specifically a worm gear inside the rack, so nothing that can be tightened up or worked on. Obviously with my car’s mileage the warranty has long since expired and it’s debatable an extended warranty would have covered this anyway. So it’s £2,700 to a main dealer or £2,300 with an Independent. No OEM option, so no choice 😡 M
