Lowering question

Hey everyone,

I have a question if it was still possible lowering my car. You're probably going to say i'm crazy or stupid but i have 235 wheels in the back on my F20. They stick out a little (around 2 cm or 1inch max). My fear is that my wheels will wreck the fenders if i catch a speed bump... What do you guys think ?

Thanks

You are not crazy running 235-tyres, as 245 is stock on M-Sport models like the one you have. The wheels look like they have too low offset.

Thanks for the reply !

as you can see here the tire is a bit outside yes .. so its due to the offset. I have some space left but not much. So should i change my wheels ? some with more positive offset ? or do you reccon i'm able to lower it with a stiff suspension ?

I don't know for sure, but I think it would rub. Higher offset wheels would be better.

Generally, if the tyre/wheel rim is visible outside the line of the body work, then you should expect there to be rubbing/fouling if you lower the suspension. This can be prevented by using a high wheel offset, or having the bodyguards rolled to accommodate the current wheel/tyre combination. Of course, you could also fit suspension with bump stops that prevent the level of compression that would foul the bodywork....but I'm thinking such suspension would not offer very good handling OR ride!

My car is exactly as yours.

Running on 19" with 245 Pirelli PZero's and on HR 2,5 springs with stock suspension.

Even they stick out they do not rub.

Give negative camber to the rear (it gives up to either 2 or 2,5)

Since i do not know exactly how much your wheel sticks out i can not guarantee that this will work. But it looks as much as mine.

Which would be no problem.

And the cars stability did not change at all.

The front side rubs tho.

You need to fender bender.

Hope this helps

Hmmm

I hope you'll pardon me saying so, but to my eyes, those wheels don't look right on that car. They appear to be the wrong size for car and as others have said, probably have the wrong offset.
