Aux
Hi everyone, I have a BMW 116d. My AUX input works partially—when I connect my phone, there is sound, but it's not very loud, and I can't adjust the volume anywhere. In some cases, the sound is clear and works fine, but the problem is not with the phone jack itself; it's new, and I've tried several phones with the same issue. What could be causing this problem? I've also tried replacing the AUX port in the car without success. I don’t have a USB port in the center console—could it be located somewhere else?

Can't you adjust the volume or don't you know how to do that?
The volume depends on your phone volume setting: yes, it's much quieter than CD/radio unless you set it (close) to maximum on the phone. Also, I can adjust the volume with the buttons on the steering wheel (but if it's set low on the phone I can't make it comfortably loud). I am absolutely sure it can be done with the CD/radio panel control just as well. And yes, I did notice that switching from my old phone to a new one did improve AUX sound quality (same music files, just converted from one lossless format to another). ![]() You can have a USB port in the glove box if you have an advanced (I guess Professional Navigation) infotainment system, but it's only used for applying navigation updates and saving music to/from the (Professional Navigation) hard disk. Here's a manual: https://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=715117 (see page 188 in particular). ![]() |

My phone is at full volume, and I’ve gone in and changed the settings for what the AUX input is used for. I still can’t find any USB port in the glove compartment. I’ll try to attach a video.

If you don't think so, consider adjusting the "fader" sound setting. Also, make sure the physical connection is good, I mean the cable plugs in the sockets - I need to place my phone into the armrest compartment carefully to avoid sound deterioration. |
