For fun, MT M135i vs. AT 535i
Yes 8 spd is quicker for the M135i vs. manual, but just how much of a handy-cap does it take for the MT M135i to win.
My neighbor is nice enough put his new 535i to the test. I start right behind him. I turned off the AC for maximum effort, ha. The result is I can keep pace with him 1st and 2nd, I will begin to over take midway through third. 535i is almost 200 kg heavier I remember it right. Then we happen to have a 535GT want to do the same thing. However, I guess the GT juts weights too much, it was overtaken almost immediately. No doubt AT is quicker, but I like shifting, down to personal choice of course. Happy weekend~ |

You can leave the A/C on. When you keep the throttle wide open, the A/C compressor will be disabled anyway, so it will not steal any power.
A manual transmission is not much of a handicap. If you shift perfectly, you will probably match the automatic transmission. It is however easy to make small mistakes, while the auto gearbox gets it perfect every time. That is why it wins 9 times of out 10. |
