Hmm... Initial reaction: I'm relieved; the design is better than I anticipated based on spy photos.. I especially like the DRLs and hidden headlights. I like the taillights too. I even like the exhaust tips.. I wonder about pricing - but I'd go for this XM (concept) over the Urus or PHEV Cayenne Turbo, without a doubt... I think an all black XM would look quite sinister! So I guess I'm a fan. I wonder how true the production version will remain to this concept...

I think the concept is over-styled (if I can even say that about a concept). Production panels and hardware toning down some exaggerated areas may make it look more in line with the rest of the BMW SAV's. The interior, at least from the driver's point of view looks pretty damn awesome.

You mean you don't want to be cool like all the morons driving around with the DRL LEDs thinking their lights are on? Can't tell you the amount of idiots on the road that don't put their lights on. Worst of all, most cars have auto lights these days, why these people decide to turn off auto lights is beside me. End rant.

Well we at least know all the renders of the new 7 series is probably wrong when it comes to the headlight design. Nice tech hiding the high and low beam behind the black housing.

I would wait until we see the production version of either 7er or XM. Its possible they stay like this but headlights on concepts are usually some of the first aspects to be changed for production cars and the tint/black housing used on the concept model here may not pass some regulations.

I don't think it's so much a possibility, I think they are using this as a springboard into hybrid M cars. I see the XM as being the model to test everything and anything BMW might want to use in all the other models, whether it's BMW M or just regular BMW's.

Yeah the turn signals follow a different set of regulations (although they also feature some stupid rules as well). I know the new RR uses a black out panel in the rear, but I believe because of that the taillights are now on 100% of the time that the vehicle is running.

it's sad, really. it wasn't that long ago that I'd be eagerly awaiting new releases, downloading the hi-res images to admire the detail and/or use as screen backgrounds, and anticipating when I might own one.
now, I don't even want to look twice at these purposefully garish designs. |

It has almost none of the traditional BMW design elements; that wouldn't be a problem if any part of the new design elements was tasteful or beautiful, or at least rested easy on the eye. Just a mumbo-jumbo design that provides shock and gives boners to teenagers. Also, the interior looks like a Romanian brothel. BMW, you have lost your goddamn way.

I’ve gone blind scrubbing my eyes in a hopeless attempt to unsee this. Is there an ongoing competition at BMW to make cars as ugly as possible without getting fired?
