The one thing I hate about lawns, is that everyone on this forum keeps on telling me to get of it.

Not from my garden (from one in Ontario Foodland) but this one is huge (1.1lb).

Less than a $1 at the grocery store.

I find the curves on that pepper strangely evocative.

A friend of mine hates the idea of lawns, he sees it as unused farming potential. To him, a lawn is a boomer mentaility.

Some beans and a few left over zucchinis. I started to pluck the carrots.

With all the blooms on the vine, I only managed to get one single cucumber...
It didn't do great last year as well. Lots of Romaine lettuce though.

We've had so many they've become horse treats. Bad year for tomatoes for us. Any kind of squash have been out of control. Melons have been fantastic as well.

For all the yard freaks, what are some turf-alternatives for yard space? My last house was the perfectly manicured lawn with deep green, stripes, clean edges, etc. Incredible amount of time and effort to keep up myself.

I now have property in N Georgia that we are building our house on. It is in the woods (hard wood) with a cleared space for the homesite. I'm not only not keen on having to keep up a yard like I did before, but there will be considerable shade from the tree coverage that will likely not be beneficial for turf. What are some alternative approaches that are clean?

a lot of times, your local agg university will have various plans or options for different landscaping styles that will work best in your climate. CSU does that for Colorado.

in general, xeriscape designs that include a lot of native plants will be minimal effort.

looks like UGA may have some info. i didnt poke around the link to know for sure. https://extension.uga.edu/publicatio...wise-landscape

Plucked a few more carrots and a green bell pepper along with some Scotia tomatoes that fell off the vine and let them ripened on the window sill.
