New washing machine!?

At the moment I'm unlucky with my household appliances. Recently my washing machine broke and since it can not be fixed I need a new one. Since we are a big household the washer has to endure something. What do you recommend, with which brand are you satisfied?

Are all washing machines now water efficient designs ?

I have an LG in my condo and in my house, two different models, and they seem to work very differently. Both front loader. One I need to manually activate WATER PLUS mode to get even a medium size load cleaner.

I think top load with the traditional center agitator may be best for heavy soiled clothes. But for finer clothes Woolite and front load may be better.

It’s just as bad. There’s always an opinion on which appliances are better than others. One person will recommend or decry one brand and another will come right behind them with an opposing view.

OP, my perspective: don’t ask the knuckleheads on the forums for specific appliance advice. Set a budget, know which features or aesthetics you value, read online reviews, see them in person and then pull the trigger. Done and done.

I have an LG top loader with a direct drive motor and 10 year warranty. Has worked flawlessly for a few years now.

Basically find one with good reviews and a decent warranty.

Agree. Stay away from Samsung. They are most likely as crappy as their refrigerators.

i recently replaced maytag that i had for 20 year. actually just the dryer stopped working and wasn't worth it to fix so I just replaced both with Electrolux, its a Swedish brand. don't buy into hype and commercials of LG or samsung. do your research on what features you want.

This. They are all pretty much disposable in terms of long-term quality.

isn't everything nowadays.

If you buy everything knowing is disposable. you won't be so attached to it, or give a fuck if it breaks.

We bought a samsung fridge with a dent in it 10 years ago....fridge totally stopped cooling. called samsung repair. guy comes out replaces evaporator coil for like 200 ish bucks and its been working fine for last 5-6 years.

nothing lasts forever....

Sears warranty, regardless of the appliance. Every time our washer or dryer breaks, we place a call and repairman comes out in the next day or 2. We see them about every other month because even with just 4 adults in the household, those washer and dryer seem to ALWAYS be running.
After enough years, they get tired of replacing the drum, or belts, or something and give us credit for something like 60% of original price, so we get new gear about every 8 years.

Unlike others here, I have had great success with my Samsung washers and dryers. I had them for 1 year in a townhouse, then I bought them again for my next house. We rocked them for 5 years there without issue as well. I bought them for the 3rd time, 18 months ago for my current house. I have 7 years and 3 different purchases of Samsung washers and dryers without issue. I bought them all on sale for under $450/each installed.

I can not say the same for Samsung refrigerators.
