So now that we're transitioning from Game of Thrones to Chernobyl, The question has to be asked: if the dragon looked at the reactor, would it die? Would iodine pills help a dragons thyroid glands? Will these questions be answered?????

Dragon would just melt the core, much like the iron throne - duhhhhh Of course, all the water in the tanks would superheat and explosion occur, knocking Dany's body from his fingertips and into the core, then she would rise again like a Phoenix.

But....but....wouldn't the dragon be radioactive for 1007 years? And what about his exposure to Cs-137????? That can't be healthy!!

Only HALF would be radio-active, because half-life. Plus deflector-scales

Joking aside, biologists have been studying the wildlife all around Prypyat and have observed interesting adaptations and micro evolution going on.

There are criminals that run from the police and hide out around the city/reactor as well....the police have no intent of following them.

Interesting. Now, I figured that there would be some impact to wildlife, but did not know about the criminals hiding out on site at Chernobyl!

I'll bet. Future glow in the dark criminals?

In fact, such micro evolutions occur in many closed zones. A striking example is DMZ between NK and S.Korea. I have been there several times and listened to stories about the unique nature and unique animal world formed in this place where there are no people.

Seeing the outcome of these firefighters, wow. Incredibly difficult to watch. There cannot be a worse way to go.

10/10 can't get enough of this show.

If you listen to the podcast for last nights episode, Craig Mazen talks about the affects of severe radiation exposure. He said he opted not to get even more graphic with what happened with one of the plant workers.

I'm finding the podcasts with the back stories and discussion of deleted scenes to be equally compelling as the show.

Definitely agree. Listening to the podcasts in relation to the episode bring additional context and understanding. Thank you for posting the links!

One of my favorite parts (I believe it was episode 2) was after the officer measured the radiation with the dosimeter-mounted truck and he exposed the lies of the two government scientists (Fomin and the other guy). Shcherbina's response:

"Take these two to the local party headquarters, thanks for your service gentlemen."

If I remember correctly from last night's podcast, Craig Mazen visited the building in the actual town called Chernobyl which he said was farther away from the power plant than Pripyat. I think he said it was sort of chilling to be in the room where those two were tried for their roles in the nuclear disaster.

I watched the first episode, it was ok, not great. It's weird how they all have British accents.

I thought last nights episode was as good as the first two. What an outstanding series!

Craig Mazen addresses this in one of the podcasts. He said he didn't want the actors to focus on faking Russian accents which he felt would detract from the acting and the overall feel of series. In my opinion, he made the right call.

They talk about it on last night's podcast. They did spend some time on the topic but I can't remember much of it since I did listen to it rather late.

It was great, as was the comments that they probably looked at them as idiots for questioning him and therefore they were no longer likely viewed as a threat.

Another great episode of a truly sad and devastating accident.
