Things been going good for me so far but hit a slight hitch.

Got a great job at a fantastic company that has flexibly to work from offices across the nation (looking at moving to phoenix from chicago next year) while making real good money, getting married in August, and traded in my E92 M3 for my 18' F80 ZCP. So far big year and this job would set us up pretty well to reach my goal of getting a Porsche GT car in the next few years after house and kids.

Well, the universe likes to play its sick jokes and this fantastic job ended up being something else under the guise of a title of a position that what I actually wanted. While the posting, money, and everything kinda seemed to point to a sr engineer position this is more like application support which im not into what so ever. Asked my manager to apply for the proper position since the company has a posting however I'm kinda getting the run around and dont think this is gonna go anywhere. Company does alot of lateral movement but the rule is having 1 yr in your current position before you can move internally. I'm asking for a exception due to the circumstances and I wanna keep working for the company.

Tough position since I'm basically feeling like I was tricked and now being almost forced out of doing what I love at a great company because I got stuck on this team and the manager doesnt want to let me pursue my real interest despite explaining the situation.

Waiting to hear whats gonna happen but I'm starting to apply for shit in case I have to get out.

My goal was totally to barely finish high school, barely make it into college, meet chicks, drop out of college, get a series of crappy jobs that i either quit or was fired from, get married, meet chicks, get divorced by pulling a runner to another city, meet chicks get a job that I thought was a career and slowly move into a completely different career, barely finish grad school and live with a woman for over 10 years, buy a house with her, buy cars for myself and spend way too much time on a BMW forum. All going according to plan!

Wait, what was this thread about again?

Pffft - My ex got the house and everything in it, half my 401K, a chunk of change and a few vital organs.... It took a while to recover but all is well once again.

All you have to do is wave a little pussy infront of most men and they become completely idiots.

My friend got married to some bat shit crazy chick which everyone knew was a nut job, she was crazy even before they got married, but that didn't stop him. As the crazy grew even worse what's a guy to do but have a baby with said crazy bitch. Couple years into it he finds her sexting with some other dude. Gets a divorce, loses half his shit including his house, agrees to pay her I dunno how much every month. Bitches and whines why anyone let him get married, never getting married again, worst mistake he ever made.

I'm suppose to go to his wedding at the end of the year.

Considering I would also need a procedure, it would prove very difficult.

It sucks but it is a small price to pay for your happiness and mental well being. I think the hatred or hurt brings out the greed as a form of revenge or spite if you will. It will eat you up if you get caught up in it. He got lifetime alimony. I made a deal for a one time payout so I never had to deal with him again and he couldn’t have his hand in my pocket for the rest of our lives.

Buy my mom a home so she doesn't have to work.
Improve myself as a person. Be kinder to myself and not so hard on myself.
Help more people recover from their trauma. I work for the VA part-time. May be go full-time.
I want to do something for other vets. I don't think we do enough for them.

I think I can crudely sum it up as the follows:

Acquire enough assets and resources to ensure that I can never be told "no, can't, or not possible".

Live long enough to set foot on another planet, the further away from this one, the better.

If my life stayed the same until death, I'd be happy.

Only thing I am missing is a car. Other than that, I am more than happy with what I have.

I was doing the work, house, save money etc thing. I was stuck on that treadmill. All with the hopes that I would be happy at some point in the future if I did all this stuff. In the meantime I was miserable and hated my jobs so I bought crap I didn't need for that momentary shot of dopamine. Then my father died.

I've never had anyone that close to me die except for my uncle back when I was still in college. Although I had been wanting a change for a while I think that was the trigger. He was super excited to retire and although he had his own business he kept putting it off to save some more money. Never got to retire, same with my uncle.

I'm not making the same mistake. A few months later I got laid off. Instead of finding another job I focused on my side business I had started a few years back and focused on growing my freelance business. For maybe like 6 months I lived off that business and supplemented it with my savings. Now I work my businesses full time and focus on work that will generate the most $$ for the least amount of time. Since I can run my business from anywhere we travel around the country in our rv for around 6 months out of the year.

Wether the fact that I was focused on my business fulltime or just luck. I actually make more now than I ever did at any previous job I've had and I work a fraction of the time I use to. That being said I try to save as much as I can now that the money is coming in. I also try to make moves that will hopefully put me in a good position were the shit to hit the fan, because I don't think I could ever go back to the 9-5 grind.

I feel like I have been in a daze for the past 15 years and finally woke up 4 years ago.

All that being said do what makes YOU happy. I know people who do enjoy their careers and get a lot of fulfillment from moving up in the company and stuff like that. Or from their family, having kids etc. Do what makes you happy and do it now, stop putting it off, even if it's hookers and blow.

If you don't mind sharing, what type of business did you grow your sidestream income into.

Those are my only two options?
