My mouth is watering already. It's like seeing a picture of a juicy hamburger or bacon on the grill. Yum.

Does one peel them, or kinda slurp out of the shell like a crab leg? I guess it depends, in part, on whether they are hard or soft boiled?

To update this thread, I've decided to start breeding roaches. I've got some baby americans which will hopefully turn out to include both sexes. Right now they're about 3mm long and very cute but soon they will grow to be monsters!

I also got some mixed gender hissers on the way. Let's hope they don't die in the mail. That kind is considerably more handsome, and should produce a huge amount of offspring although they take months to mature.

I'll let you all know when they're ready to eat.

Absolutely. Not sure if I'll eat any; if I do they'll be cooked first. I'll post some pics of the hissers when they get here.

Months have come and gone and I forgot to update this thread. First, many of you will be disappointed to hear that I gave up on the American roach colony (for now) because they are too damn fast and they fly.

Now I'm breeding a larger, more nutritious species of hissing roach. Below are a few individuals and a freshly molted adult. I haven't eaten any yet because they are kind of cute, but preparations are already underway. I talked to a Mexican dude who knows how to cook grasshoppers and these should be similar, although the tough shell may be an issue. We'll see.

This is the future of human cuisine:
