More updates on the Bamboo flooring. got the office done over the Weekend

here's the Family room. had carpet in there so pretty easy to yank that out

the PITA was the kitchen. after breaking down and going pyscho on the tiles I had to think about how I was gonna go about the refrigerator since it's pretty huge and heavy. ended up just putting down blue tape to the right of the fridge. used furniture moving pads under the rollers and just pushed it over. worked really well and all I had to do was slide it back over once I got the flooring done.

Looks like that is floating over the tile? Is that right? Did you move the cabinets or just leave them as is and put the flooring up to them?

It's floating Rick. cabinets are bolted down to the subflooring so there's not reason to remove the cabinets in my opinion. the bamboo flooring is butting up to the cabinets with about a .25" space for expansion

Is it floating over tile or is the old floor removed and floating on subfloor? My eyes are getting old...

I removed the old kitchen so the subflooring is exposed. but I have underlayment underneath the bamboo but it is floating

Whomever put the tile floor down used very little mortar, it looks like they used adhesive. People just cheap out.

Agree! I was pretty amazed of the shitty job they did. I was dreading removing the tile cause I know what a PITA it will be but it came up so damn easy. Not that I'm complaining cause it made the job so much easier

any concerns of floor tiles shifting within time...or noise?

im having an issue with bathroom tiles where grout came loose, some tiles dip or feel loose when you step on them. It seem the guy didnt put enough cement.
I will have to redo the floor

Wife wants to pull up all the existing (8"?) bathroom tiles she originally picked and put in something much larger. I'm getting too old for all that work on my knees any more, and I certainly don't want to have ANYTHING to do with breaking out old tile. I know there is plenty of mortar under those, since I put it in. Just those few I had to bust out when we changed toilet bases (did it right the second time and put the toilet on TOP of the tile) was a major chore.

I removed the tiles. The underlayment is on top of the subflooring. I posted the specs for the underlayment as far as noise on a previous post

Garage List
I just did this last week. Added two more cabinets for storage and underneath I added the countertop as well as backsplash to match the rest of the kitchen.

Didn't really take a before pic but you can kind of see what the wall was like in the one pic. Basically was just a clock and an ugly buffet storage thing on the floor.
