Is my mpg poor 116d
My 116dm sport really poor mpg,16 months since getting it avg of 43'moslty m-way and A roads,in comfort mode. Tyre pressure ok only me in the car so no added weight, have noticed sluggish performance of late, also do get horrible clutch judder when setting off when from cold.
Don't drive erratic of fast, just seems poor for a new car,any help or advice appreciated. |

I'm averaging 55MPG per tank on my 116D (18 months old) which I consider poor when the advertised was 68MPG combined.
Also having the same cold start juddering... and wondering how worried I should be after @ovekvam 's comment

My 118i only really does about 30 to 35mpg. Which is ok in my view but nowhere near the official figures.
Also, if your diesel is feeling a bit sluggish try filling it with v-power (or whatever shell call it now) and go for a drive. When I had my 325D and it felt sluggish at times, a bit of super diesel and a drive at 80mph would really sort it out. On the clutch judder, mine is terrible when cold. And starting to notice it when warm also. As my car has two manufacture recalls pending, Sytner will look at the clutch then. |

Not entirely sure but I would think a failing DMF would be unmistakable regarding juddering and not temperature dependant. Clutch Delay Valve issues possibly?

The F20 engine mounts are also very soft, making it possible for the engine to move around a lot, making the judder worse than it would otherwise be. In our 116i, you can move the engine quite a lot by hand.

116d consumption
My 116dA is performing very well in consuption. Of course, it's hard to achieve the paper figures, but it isn't impossible. What I like is the fuel efficiency on long distance high speed traveling - example: 550kms trip with avg speed of 139km/h (real avg!) with loaded car (4 people, stuff for skiing) for 6,5l/100km.

My 118d is averaging 50.5 which is a realistic figure and what I expected for my driving and journey types.
I was getting 54mpg out of a 2012 95bhp 1.6 fiesta. |
