Interesting stuff. I have tried to do some drifting with our 116i, but it only works on ice/snow. On tarmac it simply runs out of power. The balance is so good in the F20 that it tends to drift with all four wheels, causing a lot of rolling resistance. Combined with too much grip from my Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres, I don't have enough power to keep the slides going as long as I wanted.

Do you have a mechanical limited slip differential, or are you running with the stock open differential? And how do you like it?

I was running my stock wheel setup (some Pirelli runflats I believe) with the pressure up to 3.5bar on the rears. I have the stock open diff and will now be looking for an LSD I was able to maintain a single high speed drift for a long time as well. I was really very pleased with how the car handles in drifts.

Also, as you can see, the track was kept wet for easier (lower speed) drifts and low tyre usage

It was organized by a Belgian BMW forum named Bimmerboard.
The circuit is on a the formal RAF airbase of Weeze, an airport on the Dutch/German border.
Owner of the circuit, Drive@Weeze (www.driveweeze.com) also organises on regular bases a drift event but the drivers there are less respectful towards others because they're not drifting with their own (daily) drivers...!

Your car is beautiful. I like what you did with the stock rims... It must be a handful!

By the end of the day I was able to drift a sequence of slow turns onto a straight with gearshifting from 2nd up to 4th. Gear shift are véry smooth and you don't even feel them, you just go faster!

Here are two pics.
Looks like you had a lot of fun! Nice driving!

I have a BMW drivers day in a few weeks with an M3 & 125i, Geoff Brabham is the instructor, so I'm definitely looking forward to that. Not so sure they will be teaching us drifting though!
Let me know how that goes kook, I'm contemplating taking that session too!

Here's one of my new 1er, unfortunately it's only a 116d, but we'll get that sorted out when a remap is available for it
