Bmw f20 2012 116d (2.0) upgrades
Hello there, i have a 2012 Bmw F20 116d with the 2.0 116hp engine. This car has been sitting in the garage for about 2 years now, have only been taking it out in the summers to maintain it.
I really like the car and was thinking about upgrading it. I have been looking at tuning the engine to about 180hp with either bsr tuning, bluefin or local tuningshops. Maybe remove the flaps in the intake, mainly to preserve the engine. (Have an e83 that i did this to, and they looked about to go..) Upgraded intercooler needed with new tuning of engine? Or will stock still work? Anyone here done the "stage 1" engine tune to 180/184hp? Will the sport/comfort/eco buttons still work? And at last in thinking about audio upgade, this one is tricky. Have seen some "screen upgrade" solutions with android, wich bypasses the original stereo. Anyone here tested those? |

Hello! I been thinking about the "stage 1" engine tune, but saved it for later. But i did the "screen upgrade", it looks great and it works ok. It's not so tricky, it took me under one hour to install the android screen. Here is link: #Aliexpress Android 10 BMW F30/F31/F34/F20/F21/F32/F33/F36 NBT

Ok, how is the android os with this new screen? I have read that some people think its very slow.
Started buying parts now for the "build". Have the smoked rear lights now with led, side mirror markers smoked, Hartge sport spring kit. Still doing alot of google, not found all the info for doing retrofit to multifunction steeringwheel, front fog lights and audio ofc, i have the CIC, bmw pro audio, not alot to do with that. |

Well i have the NBT system in my car, so android screen in the link i sent is not for your car. Android 10 with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM is not slow, but startup time is 12 to 17 seconds.
PS. Sorry for my English, i'm russian. |

Ok, so a little update here. I have now done the Stereo upgrade, i fitted a Alpine 1 din in the car, and moved the original stereo to the boot, so i still have the old CIC system working. I installed the new alpine headunit with the powerpack amp, and the sound is much better than the original bmw headunit. All speakers still stock.
I installed a M-sport leather steering wheel, with multi functions, this i still havent managed to code in correctly. Tried adding VO 249 and 544, even tried 710 for the msport steering. Everything lights up but functions are fubar. Did a suspension upgrade to, lowering the car with Harge springs and installed a weichers top strut bar. Got the car tuned to stage 1 also, and cleaned the intake at the same time. (damn that one was dirty.. After 130k km) Anyone here have done the multi function steering wheel retrofit? As you can see i did not have any mfs, but the clock spring in the steering column had all connectors. So everything is plugged in, and coded correctly, using the guide on this forum. |
