Come on, if EVERYONE goes in for slicks and Ham doesnt, where he does the first next pas and thus everyone passes him, thats not called a mistake, it's called a monumental mistake.
And it shows in the result. When you start at pole, when all your direct competitors are either out of the race, or have huge damage to their cars, when you don't have any mechanical problems, and still don't manage to win the race.....it's a mistake....of epic proportions.

on the final race lasted year mercedes expected those lapped cars to remain in place but Masi single handedly allowed them to lap - and this was deemed a wrong move in investigation.

unlapping cars inbetween in a sc situation is normal practice.
Not having unlapped all the cars is a disadvantage for SAI and the rest that followed. However they didn't complain. MERC did and their complaint was overrulled. Twice.

So max was literally handed the win.

MAx won because he pitted for new softs.
Merc didnt because they gambled that the race would finish under safetycar, despite Masi having said the race before that he prefers results being decided in race situation. So that was a big fail in human understanding.
Everyone knew Masi preferred having the race not finish under sc.

Mercedes haven't made as many mistakes as you'd like to believe...

Sending out HAM on white tyres at the beginning of this year, very funny to see him sliding every way; after race admitting another mistake....
And not being able to give Russel front spoiler adjustments in imola...I think that also shouldn't be the way it works....
I think they probably make more mistakes than I believe. In any case way more mistakes than RB and I can't come up with a single team on the grid that makes more mistakes than Mercedes. Strategic thinking is by far their weakest point and it is the main reason they didn't get the WDC last year. Baku and Hungary were 2 amateuristic mistakes and preventing those alone would have given them the WDC. It is thàt simple....

Their bodywork is too bulbous for the long straight and with the extra wing they are trashing tyres..
