Possible VANOS SELENOID issue??
Hi guys, we have a 2013 116i petrol and it's showing the following two fault codes;
120408 - boost pressure control: shut down as a follow up reaction 130308 - vanos, outlet: control error, position not reached Symptoms are: - Misfire shaky idle on start, but normal when car is warm - Drivetrain error which goes once vehicle is restarted Been going on since we bought the car but need to get it resolved now. I have it booked in at the end of October but does anyone know if this is definately the vanos selenoid? Or anything else? On forums some say it could be timing chain? Car has had new ngk spark plugs, oil and filters change around 6 months ago. It's done 100k miles. Thanks |

It could well be the chain and this isn't too bad a job but could also be the solenoids. (google r check ebay for a kit and you also need the tools which are also widely available)
My 2014 116i had done 95k miles and although the idle is rough for a few seconds after a ccold start, I don't have any faults codes and no chain rattling. |
Appreciate
